President Vicente Fox said Monday he would fight to defend the consular identity cards used by migrants in the United States, amid proposals in the U.S. congress to limit the use of the cards in applying for government services.

Fox appeared to play on his name -- which in Spanish would be "Zorro," the legendary masked sword fighter -- saying he would defend the so-called matricula cards "with a cape and a sword."

"The Matricula Consular cards are again being questioned, but we will defend them with a cape and a sword, because our countrymen who live up there are neither criminals nor terrorists," Fox said.

ANY mexican who came into the US via ANY method other than those SPECIALLY stated as LEGAL is an ILLEGAL and therefore IS A CRIMINAL. Bush would make a HUGE mistake to do ANYTHING to further this situation. We must TIGHTEN our southern boarder.

Don't forget, this past summer, ILLEGAL mexicans were trying to SUE the US GOVT because there were NO FACILITIES and WATER in the desert where they were ILLEGALLY coming into the US.

I used to live on near the border, back when Lopez Portillo (el bandito) was running Mexico. For decades, the thoroughly corrupt, Leninist-leaning PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party) ran their country into the ground and caused the U.S. no end of trouble with drugs, corrpution, and anti-American sympathies.

When Vincente' Fox, an outsider not of the PRI, took over, I thought he'd be a reformer and pro-American. But he has turned out to be no better than his predecessors. Poor, naive me.

What part of NO doesn't Mr. Fox understand? We don't tell you what to do with your country or laws and we require the same respect. Anyone who wants to come here to the USA can do it legally, but we don't want people jumping, swimming, or running across the border.

Why doesn't Fox devote his energies to turning Mexico into a functioning country that doesn't need to send half its citizens across the border in order to survive? I guess it's easier to sit around and be a blow-hard.

Everybody barring noone from without this country lately seems to think that they have a say in American politics, law, culture, etc. I wish we'd get the gumption as a nation to tell them all get stuffed. Why are we putting up with this? Oops,I forgot our fifth column-the Left.

Yep, I remember.....also have read that a now TWICE deported mexican has filed a lawsuit, claiming he was *profiled* during the traffic stop that resulted in his SECOND deportation.

Of course, El Presidente Fox and his hooker wife both get a piece of everything every wetback in America steals or mails back. What is beyond me, however, is Bush's refusal to stop this attack on our country.

Every Mexican illegally in the US should have at least three official matricula cards. The beauty of the cards is that, when used in the US, they identify a criminal illegal alien!

Note that a major hospital in Fort Worth, Texas last week closed down and declared bankruptcy. A main cause was the cost of treating Fox's wetbacks at no cost. These alien criminals will now go to the county hospital and loot additional dollars from the county's taxpayers.

Fox is taking cash from Cuba to transport Arab terrorists safely into the US. I hope it doesn't take a major terrorist attack launched from Mexico to convince our government that there is nothing to be gained by making Fox wealthier with his wetback criminals!

Fox represents the elite Mexicans who are prefectly happy with the current system there because they are getting extremely rich --- why would he care that 80% of his citizens are suffering? He's very rich himself. Mexican ex-presidents actually get 10 times what American ex-presidents get in salary --- $5 million annual salary --- do you really think he has any interest in reforms????

I think you have to give Fox a break on that one --- has he every heard the word "No" when it comes to what he demands from the USA?

...saying he would defend the so-called matricula cards "with a cape and a sword."

In his case, more like a cape and a pitchfork.

"Fox is taking cash from Cuba to transport Arab terrorists safely into the US."

See, that's the problem... when you come up with unsupported accusations, you blow all your valid arguments also...

Yes many of us thought (HOPED) the same thing.

Looks like now the PRI will again be back in power down there, & will quickly undo any small improvements Fox has made.
