Middle Class Said To Pay Higher Tax Rate Than Heinz Kerry And Kerry Stephen Moore, president of the Club for Growth, writes in the WALL STREET JOURNAL on Monday: "According to the Kerrys' own tax records, and they have not released all of them, the couple had a combined income of $6.8 million in income last year and paid $725,000 in income taxes. That means their effective tax rate was a whopping 12.8%.... "Under the current tax system the middle class pays far more than the Kerry tax rate. In fact, the average federal tax rate -- combined payroll and income tax -- for a middle-class family is closer to 20% or more. George W. and Laura Bush, who had an income one- tenth of the Kerrys', paid a tax rate of 30%. ... END

"Here is the man who finds clever ways to reduce his own tax liability while voting for higher taxes on the middle class dozens of times in his Senate career. He even voted against the Bush tax cut that saves each middle-class family about $1,000." The Kerrys "have unwittingly made the case for what George W. Bush says he wants to do: radically simplify and flatten out the tax code. ... So before John Kerry is given the opportunity to raise taxes again on American workers, shouldn't he and Teresa at least pay their fair share?"
How is Kerry going to play for total health care, college for everyone on the backs of everyone making over 200K if they aren't paying their fair share? I hope Bush nails him good on this. also, Therayzuh has more money than that. She's a multi billionaire. I wonder what her tax return really looks like since she's hiding it.

I agree with you. Every time I hear Kerry saying he is only going to tax the rich more I get so angry. The rich can afford to pay accountants to find every possible loophole around taxes. So how is the tax money from the rich going to pay for any of his proposed programs? It's not!
Sheesh! Thanks for posting. I've circulated even further.

Bump that!
I wrote year 6y moths ago that the Kerry campaign made a HUGE mistake in holding this data out till the end of the campaign. If they released it 6 months ago, it'd be an old news cycle..now, it will dominate the last 3 weeks of the campaign. All the GOP has to do is tell Americans..pull out your tax returns, check your bracket..

BTW, when Kerry "looked into the camera...", I couldn't help but think of "I did not have sex with that woman..." (And anybody remember the middle class tax cuts Clinton promised? - or our own 'Rat governor Warner's "I will not raise taxes"?) Grrrrrrr...
( okay - breathe slow, lower blood pressure...)
When Kerry looked right into the camera I wanted to run. I was waiting for the BOTOX (a WMD) to kill us all. That is why they didn't find it in Iraq, it is all in Kerry's face.
Anyway she says...
I was afraid people were going to misunderstand Kerry's point. He repsonded to Bush's statement on how many "small-business owners" were going to be affected because they made more than $200,000. He was referring to S-Corps. What Kerry was trying to say is that if you are a shareholder in an s-corp, you are considered an "owner" of that company. Bush is a shareholder in a timber company, and is considered an "owner". Bush is counting people like himself in the "small business ownerS" category when he throws around numbers of small business owners that make $200k plus and will be affected.
Admittedly, I know nothing about this. Any answers out there?
Cover your ears, folks.
Any second now the MSM will be demanding with one thunderous voice that the Kerry's release all their tax records!
AND THEN.....they'll demand that Kerry open his military records!
AND THEN.....AND THEN.....
I am not positive, but I believe that the small businesses that are S type, are given a tax break by being placed in different brackets than the larger corporations. I do not know about the tax ramifications on shareholders.
Sorry, I posted that to you, I noticed that after I hit post. I really just meant to throw it out there and see if anyone bit. And, I didn't want to start a ...vanity.
OK, I'll leave you alone now.
riri,
I know a LOT about this, and I have no clue what your liberal friend is talking about.
As far as I know, Bush owns only securities and his home.
If he owns a business, or has put his assets in some kind of self-incorporation, that's news to me.
Now which FreeRepublic poster was it that conned Ol' grey face into making that pledge?
Fess up...you are my hero!
