Kerry: 'We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance'...
Only because Dean imploded first.
In three weeks I want to get back to the place where Kerry is not the focus but a nuisance'..
Because he's the biggest, most-expendable Bravo-Sierra'er they had available (Loserman isn't a very convincing liar, and the rest of the field couldn't convince a Middling voter on their best days). And that's DemonRAT (all caps on the "RAT" part :-)
"Hope you folks can make sense out of it. I sure can't."
It means at least this:
Bush is right that Kerry sees it as a law enforcement issue;
Kerry doesn't intend to 'win" the war on terrorism because
he doesn't think it's a war.
Kerry wants to insure that people forget that 9/11 happened.
Edwards on Fox today when asked whether Saddam was a threat once he had shucked off the sanctions, said, "sure he would have been a threat but so what, there are threats all over the place but we don't have to invade everywhere.
These guys are just thoroughly bad news.
Have the 9-11 Widows for Kerry heard that he thinks the loss of their loved ones, is a nuisance?
That's how it always is. The DemonRat presidents screw off, look the other way at the enemy, collect money through their various scams and shady deals, and the media takes care of them and tells the masses that they're a great guy. Then, when a Republican gets elected, he's the bad guy for fixing the problems that the last Demorats created and having to spend money to do it.
Afterall, in Kerry's worldview, you and I and the rest of us here on FR are plebs and serfs.
They're hanging themselves, thats for sure.
Using his voting record is the smart move - there is no way he can (or the media for that matter) twist things -
His record and that of his choice for VP - Edwards - show clearly what kind of people they are and what kind of leaders they would be -
America would have no defense if they had their way - and America would become a Socialist State -
I just get afraid when our side tries to get clever - I think the facts speak for themselves -
just my opinion -
Agreed. Kerry is a menace right now, but once he's defeated (preferably in a landslide!) let's hope he can fade away to be a mere 'nuisance' -- and he can tell his pals in the liberal think tanks how he was just tooooo sophisticated for Americans who view terrorists as something worse than a "nuisance."
When the NY Times author says Kerry understood so much "before the rest of us" that has to be understood in the context of Kerry's public statements and writings in the 1990s: he views mainly the criminal aspects of terrorism, requiring international cooperation analogous to fighting drug lords and organized crime. But he STILL does not grasp how we have to be willing to END REGIMES forever that oppose us and side with the terrorists. That is the new deterrence that must be maximized in a post-9/11 world: every dictator in the world must know that the US government and military are prepared to end his regime and end his life if he sides with the terrorists. Braying about diplomacy and multi-lateralism is inadequate and unacceptable in a potential US President.
Fair?
Misquotes are fair game.....
What he said and what he intended not to say can easily be confused with what he actually said before when he really meant some thing else altogether.
If it sounds like something he said it is ok to quote.
I prefer the 30-second ad with Pan Am 103 footage, the first WTC bombing, the "gun-to-the-pilot's-head" shot from the TWA flight that got hijacked to Beirut in the '80s, and the Iranian hostage crisis, followed by, "These are the days John Kerry wants to return to." Heck, if you want a hugh impact, make it a minute and throw in various embassy bombings, the USS Cole, and the Khobar Towers.
Is it just me, or has the Nuisance story disappeared from Drudge?
This is Kerry's statement (NYT Magazine October 10, 2004)
Quote: "We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance," Kerry said
Yes it has. I have the quote on my website. I wonder why Drudge took it down. Maybe it was sabatoge?
YEA...i just noticed that to....that's why i came here to see if there was a reason
Maybe threatened with a lawsuit? Mysterious.
You're so right. But Kerry's comments are very revealing of the Clinton/algore mindset that dominated the 1990s: they viewed every terrorist massacre of Americans as a mere 'nuisance' that would distract from their self-important plans to change domestic policies in a liberal direction. They could have prevented 9/11 if they had been willing to emphasize the threats and change security policies (tell that to the "New Jersey widows" who have been attacking Bush), but they only viewed terrorism as a 'nuisance' and 9/11 was the result. What Bush grasps is that with the Democratic Party in power we would be in grave danger of attacks that would make 9/11 look small. We still are in such danger, but Bush is accomplishing a lot. I wish he'd do one hell of a lot more, especially about allowing real threat profiling, airport and port security, border security, etc., but at least he's better than any alternatives from the Demagogic Party.
Is this quote "verified"?
Yep, its off the site. If anyone finds out any info on this please let me knowl
