I think the times we live in are graver than any of us suspected.

The 'fighting hellfire with hellfire' section is the key. We will never win this war against terrorism until the supposed moderates (I like the author's calling them 'orthodox') stand up to the terrorists on religious grounds.

There can be no doubt about it -- the central purpose of islam is the subjugation of whole populations for 1) forced conversion, 2) enslavement and 3) thievery. This is spelled out unequivocally in islamic scripture and forms the foundation and justification for all their violence and aggression. As long as this doctrine remains, we will be fighting them. This, IMO, is why they must either repudiate that doctrine or die.

My tagline sums up Islam in 4 words.

Any form of religious belief can-and indeed, has-been used as the justification for oppression and murder-and that includes Christianity. Contrary to what our deleted troll has said however, the White House has not waged war in the name of God, but in the defense of global (not just Western) civilization, and in the belief that security and freedom must be balanced for all, whether we disagree with them not. The notion that there are certain secular values which are shared and universal, and that no one faith or ideology has the right to impose itself by force on others is what makes us superior, not our "Christianity".

Very good article. Thanks for posting it.

I find the most worthwhile posts these days have to do with educating us about our enemy. Recent posts about Moslem "law" regarding sex and treatment of captured women were quite eyeopening, but this strikes a tone which is more grave, and addresses a level of seriousness more profound.

Sounds like Spain figured out a good local solution years ago, one we should perhaps emulate. The larger solution, I'm afraid, will involve either the threat of nuclear annihilation of the whole lot of them, under which they may make the sorts of changes recommended in the article, or the carrying out of that threat. They seem to be like cockroaches: we're not likely to bring them to extinction, but we should sure try to keep them in check as much as possible.

Really hard to have much respect for people who cling, in this day and age, to a religion this twisted and dangerous.

Excellent article.

An interesting insight into their deadly intensity --

"An offshoot of this philosophy poses a dilemma for theories of deterrence. The Islamic traditions of war allow the Muslim forces to retreat if their numerical strength is less than half that of the enemy. Other traditions go further and allow retreat only in the face of a tenfold superiority of the enemy. The reasoning is that the act of jihad is, by definition, an act of faith in Allah. By fighting a weaker or equal enemy, the Muslim is relying on his own strength and not on Allah; by entering the fray against all odds, the mujahed is proving his utter faith in Allah and will be rewarded accordingly."

Islam flunked the 20th Century. If they can't eradicate the "radical" from the "Orthodox," they will become the inevitable casualty of a civilized planet.

Sooner the better.

I agreed with the author throughout.

At the end his solution to the problem is mushy. Basically he says get the Islamic heretics and apostates to conspire to convince the the adherents to Islam that the Koran doesn't mean what it says, and we will all be better off with Islam Lite where no blood would be shed.

I am afraid that the followers of Allah won't allow that to happen. Any tampering with the word of God or the watering down of the Koran will be met with swift violence upon the Muslim heretics. - tom
