LaPierre: Kerryite Soros Pushing Global Gun Ban
NewsMax ^ | October 10, 2004 | Carl Limbacher

Billionaire John Kerry supporter George Soros is working through the U.N. to negotiate a treaty that will ban private ownership of firearms on a worldwide basis, says National Rifle Association spokesman Wayne LaPierre.

Addressing the annual SAFE: Right to Carry Conference last Sunday on New York, LaPierre warned, "The U.N. is, I believe, the major threat that we're going to be dealing with."

"Under the umbrella of the United Nations, there are now more than 500 of these organizations working day and night trying to ban civilian ownership or firearms," he explained. Under the banner of IANSA - the International Action Network on Small Arms - Soros operative Rebecca Peters is working to capitalize on the success of her gun ban campaign in Australia, where firearms possession is now illegal and crime is going through the roof.

On Tuesday LaPierre is set to debate Peters on InDemand pay-per-view TV, where the two will lock horns over the upcoming UN global gun ban conference in the summer of 2006.

Peters is such an anti-gun zealot that she even argues that police should be disarmed. "When police begin to carry guns, that motivates criminals to carry guns," she complained recently, according to LaPierre.

In America, however, her efforts have been frustrated so far thanks in part to President Bush's UN appointees, like Undersecretary of State John Bolton, former Congressman Bob Barr and former U.S. ambassador to Switzerland Faith Whittlesey.

According to the NRA chief, last year the conservative trio "went to the U.N., looked them right in the eye and said, 'We will not sign off on any international treaties that touch the second amendment in the United States.'"

Rep. Barr, who was also on hand at the SAFE conference, recalled Undersecretary Bolton's address to the UN.

"He gave a very straightforward and very impassioned lesson to those UN bureaucrats who were there. And he basically told them, our second amendment is not for sale to the United Nations.

"They were shocked to hear that," Barr added.

Things will be different if Bush loses in November, warned LaPierre, especially given John Kerry's long record of opposition to second amendment rights.

"Can you imagine if President Kerry appoints the U.S. delegation to that conference - what we're going to end up with?" he said.

They sure do! It's because they know they can't get them away from the criminals, so they start with law abiding citizens. They're going to have a very difficult time getting them away from folks who live in the US. We've seen first hand that gun control doesn't work.

I was lucky enough to attend this pre-recorded debate live. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1205707/posts

Australia, where firearms possession is now illegal

One of the Aussie Freepers posted several weeks ago that this isn't true. There is a licensing procedure, and three different classifications of firearms, but he indicated that Class A was easy, Class B (for handguns and semi-auto long guns) was much like U.S. concealed carry licensing, and Class C was similar to BATF licensing for a full-auto.

"...the United Nations,....working day and night trying to ban civilian ownership or firearms,..."

A contradiction. The UN should instead be working to ban the public ownership of arms that, by far, do the most killing in the world.

This has been a UN objective from the get go.

The UN really don't want our weapons, not while they sit on American soil.

They need to read Enemies Foreign and Domestic.

I'd like to see George Soros and Kofi Annan personally come to my house in an attempt to take my guns.

Well, this is not a threat, it is not an empty statement, it is not rhetoric, it is a simple fact and I will live and die by it:

I would not like to see anybody come to my house in an attempt to take my guns.

I will remain law-abiding and peaceful as long as I possibly can, but any attempt to take my guns, from the UN to the local constable, will be met with resistance.

And that's the bottom line.

Whether anyone else believes in it or not, I truly believe in the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

And the phrase: "...from my cold dead hands.", has a lot of meaning to me.

And I do not believe I am alone.

"And I do not believe I am alone."

You are very far from being alone. I feel exactly the same way, and many others that I know also do. We are all aware that anyone coming to disarm you is not doing so for your health or well-being, but the intent to enslave or kill you. Giving up one's guns to ANYONE involuntarily is akin to a woman letting a criminal handcuff her - everyone KNOWS what's coming next, and anyone would be insane to let it happen without an all-out fight.

In addition to being a human being who has a Natural Law right to self defense, and an American with specific legal protections of my RKBA, I am a Jew. I don't think that it takes much imagination to understand why I will NEVER be disarmed until I'm dead (and then I'll do the best to ensure that my family retains the means of self defense).

I suggest that all gunowners who are able to do so obtain at least one gun that cannot be traced to you. Don't break any laws in acquiring the gun or possessing it, but if you can do it, then DO IT! Acquire it for cash, and acquire ammo, spare parts, reloading equipment and supplies for it the same way. If the gun is the same model as another gun you have, so much the better - you'll be very familiar with it. Then make sure that this gun and the related supplies are safely stored elsewhere. This way, no one will be able to take ALL of your guns, no matter who is in office or what treaties the Comm-Symp MFs sign.
