OCTOBER 9, 2004 - A smuggling ring involving children backfires. Sources tell Action 4 News questions are being raised on what role if any a CNN news crew played in the illegal operation.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement tells Action 4 News two women were arrested Thursday night at the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville while trying to cross five Mexican children into the United States illegally.
U.S. Customs says everyone in the car was detained and adds CNN reporters were not authorized to be at the bridge and were asked to leave.
The two unidentified women reportedly said they had been paid by CNN to see if they could get the children across the Rio Grande and into the United States without federal agents knowing.
Federal agents say the women driving the car are facing federal charges by the U.S. Attorney's office.
*IF* we ever get to hear it.
CBS, ABC and now CNN the liberal medai is OUT OF CONTRL!!!!
The Clinton network is still up to it's dirty tricks. They should all be thankful their little game didn't turn ugly and the kids died. When will CNN air this report?
It will all be swept under the carpet. It is called 'making news up' untill you are caught.
They must be desperate... paying to create a news story?
Check this out....
CNN has always been out of control (remember Peter Arnett?); aside from Lou Dobbs, it's a loser, left-wing operation.
Maybe we will hear about it from John Ashcroft.
So9
If I read this right, the moral of the story besides CNN being the rag they are, they're story didn't pan out and they DIDN'T sneak the kids in.
So we can expect a huge story on how effective the Border Guards are, right? That what used to be a simple task (smuggling into US) has been thwarted by the Bush Administration?
I won't hold my breath.
"The two unidentified women reportedly said they had been paid by CNN " - sounds like if you can't get credible news, then pay someone to get the "headline".
Right. In addition to that, they broke the law -- hope the exchange of money can be proven, if true.
Maybe we should FReep them......as well as Fox, MSNBC, etc........(sure seems like "breaking news" to me.
FYI
Of course (knowing CNN) they may also have been trying to set up something else entirely, tyring to get Border Patrol agents on tape "abusing" children, for example. Why else would they have been set up at the bridge?
You have to wonder if the CNN guys tipped off the Border Patrol to their own "smuggling operation," hoping to stage a horrendous crash (with fatalities) on camera.
Might be interesting to see just how tolerant they would be if some enterprising independent film makers were to start testing CNN's security in Atlanta. Or maybe setting up exclusive interviews for them with "terrorists" with a hidden camera to see just what the CNN crew would be willing to do or say to get the story.
Remember Abscam? Worked wonders... for awhile.
Call the Mexican Consulate in Houston. Mexican diplomatic official should be asked to rule on the matter, as they're now in charge of deciding who can live in the United States.
Just as *many* border crimes are.
The MSM has abused their first amendment rights to the point of criminality.
One of the hallmark restraints on freedom of speech has always been "You can't yell fire in a crowded theater",
the MSM does just that.
During the Rodney King riots in California the press wantonly and deliberately fanned the flames of the rioting to prolong the story. They repeatedly played the video of the beating during the riots. They should have been prosecuted for inciting a riot because that is exactly what they accomplished.
Their facades are off. They cannot pretend to be unbiased or even factual. The are all offenders but CNN is among the worst. They essentially the propaganda agency for SADDAM but covering only what he wanted covered in exchange for continued access.
If the MSM reported factually and not only spin for the Democrat party there would never be another Democrat elected to national office.
It's time for this other member of the Axis of Evil to fall.
AH.....paying to have anyone smuggled into the country is a felony.
