"I think President Bush sidestepped this landmine deftly, but it clearly show's a moderator bias in attempting to give Kerry a powerful parting shot"

Charlie do that? No; he just miscalculated the time; he was GOING to ask Kerry the same.

Acutally, given the question, Kerry should never had opportunity for 'his' two cents. He was not in the question. . .

Indeed, along with the "Need some wood?" it was definitely one of our President's shining moments. That response alone would score big on anyone's scorecard who was watching the debate for "debate effectiveness". It was out of the ballpark on a wild curve ball.

His response was beautiful.

He reiterated all he believed had been right, smacked down the attempt to get him to admit Iraq was a mistake, and deftly answered the question by stating there are a few people he wouldn't have hired, but wasn't going to embarrass them on national TV.

The man is brilliant!

As unprofessional and biased as that question was, Bush disarmed it with ease and without incident. It would have been a great time to toss out a line like, 'I guess you got Mark Halepin's memo', but overall Bush handled it like a pro.

Did anyone notice the exchange between Gibson and Kerry after the debate? Fox Cable News had a shot of Gibson and Kerry walking toward each other in the crowd. Gibson seemed to have a disappointed look on his face and seemed to shrug as he looked at Kerry. Kerry looked back at Gibson without a smile. Did anyone else see this?

"It was the greatest out of the ball park answer by the President. He was on his game tonight. No doubt about it."

Given it's curve; I agree.

So the questions are not made up by the individuals asking them? I was a little astounded by Pres. Bush's statement to the lady, like he was scolding HER.

John Kerry's so-called "momentum" ran into a Sherman tank tonight.

same here Bush 2 Kerry 0. ... and Cheney v Edwards was Cheney 2 Edwards 0,
debate #1 was Bush 1, Kerry 1.

It's really misleading. And you changed the title of the article. Basically, this is a vanity.

He was probably quivering with excitement to be so close to John Kerry. Much like an enamoured schoolgirl. Either that, or he was giddy with excitement thinking springing 'the curveball', i.e. his final question.

By President Bush's response, I think Gibson's little ploy backfired on him. I think we should all send him an email thanking him for making our president look good at the close of the debate - LOL!

He was just on Nightine and said how many great questions he had and how he thought that was a GREAT last question (jerk)... don't any of these people know he CAN'T answer a qustion like that. It would be in an ad tomorrow morning.

Ted Koppel was just totally rude and condensending to Karen Hughes!

You know the RATS thought Dubya was cornered with that trick question...And then he turned the tables.

They must be devastated. Kerry was bulldozed.

Yes, the question was very presumptous and was designed to put Bush on the spot. But Bush handled the question brilliantly by revealing it for what it was, a loaded question. Bush said something like: "Of course the question really means why did we go to(Iraq)."
