The Old Media are going down, one by one, and this is immensely pleasing to me.

I'll be out in the woods early this morning praying to the great old trees and to the still, deep heavens that you are right.

The "old media" cannot go down fast enough. The lefty/socialist/Dem/anti-American media is the most ruthless and dangerous enemy of this nation. They cannot die fast enough for the good of the country, and a stake should be thrust into their evil cold heart!

I believe the question wasn't intended to ask Kerry to name three things Bush has done wrong. He took it upon himself to answer the question that way.

Except that the participants addressed one question to Bush and one to Kerry. It was a knuckleball to Bush and a softball to Kerry.

Exactly what I was thinking too. And Charlie is the one cherry picking these questions. He should have required Kerry to answer for his mistakes, like running for President. But in fact, I think a lot of people should have picked up on that.

I can't believe that Gibson didn't get a question about the Swift Boat Vets.

Or this question:

"All previous Senators who ran for President resigned before beginning their campaigns. You, sir, have missed all of your Senate votes since beginning your campaign save one (the assault weapons ban extension) causing the people of Massachussetts to lose vital representation in Congress. Senator Kerry, do you not have enough confidence in the outcome of your bid for the Presidency to resign from the Senate, and if you have such confidence, then why haven't you resigned?"

If even Kerry himself expects to lose, then why should anyone else vote for him?

Because of the nature of the question, the moderator should have made Kerry answer it as a Senator for the last 20 years. It was a loaded question and Kerry had nothing to worry about on that particular question. He was allowed his time to pile on.

Subtle?

Looks to me like Charlie got the ABC memo.

Yes, he should have.

"Cleland may have been in Vietnam, but he did NOT lose his limbs in battle."

How did Cleland lose his limbs?
Do you have a source for that?

Curious minds want to know.

The Old Media fear the loss of power and control. They essentially run the country when whomever is president isn't a man of character and strength. They want to rule the world with disinformation, distortion, scare tactics and propaganda. (See why they get along so well with the 'rats?)

The truth is a sword in their side.

I groaned when I heard that question and screamed at the TV, "What a loaded question..." ...I was so proud and amazed with the Solomom style way that Pres. Bush answered it ....

Me too! The question turned out to be a blessing on many levels. God does work His wonders in mysterious ways!

No, the questions came from the people asking them. The viewers wrote questions, submitted them and those that were chosen read the questions they wrote. All viewers were to write two questions, one for Bush, one for Kerry.

Did anyone else notice how the President talked with that lady for a long time after the debate was over?

No, I didn't! Our station didn't linger long on the after shots. I thought I noticed the lady standing near Kerry, looking doe-eyed, but it may have been someone else.

One thing I did notice: when Bush was answering the question, the woman who asked it looked, to me, to be furious. Her eyes seemed to be burning with rage.

I couldn't see Kerry for all the people rushing to get their picture taken with the "new" WOODMAN.

Fox stayed on it for a while and they had quite a talk after. Both seemed to be smiling.

By President Bush's response, I think Gibson's little ploy backfired on him. I think we should all send him an email thanking him for making our president look good at the close of the debate - LOL!

What I'd like to see would be a "debate" where instead of being stacked with "soft voters", the forum was stacked with partisans chosen by both sides, with each side getting to select the order of questions that will be asked of the other.

The best performance I saw Rush Limbaugh give on television was on the Phil Donahue show; he was asked liberal questions, and answered them. By contrast, liberals who are asked conservative questions often have trouble answering them.

He was on his game tonight.

I made the exact same comment on another thread. I couldn't agree more. In fact, I didn't realize the bias of the final question because the President handled it so deftly.

Whatever the President did to mentally prepare for tonight's debate -- I say "keep it up!" (Maybe it was just something as simple as getting a good night's sleep.)

Neither Jim Lehrer nor Charles Gibson seemed outrageously biased because they used the press's favorite media bias technique: OMISSION. It was what they DIDN'T ask Kerry that matters.

As I've said many times, I wish they'd have a debate where the audience contained an equal number of openly partisan Republicans and Democrats, and where each party got to choose an equal number of questions they wanted asked. Even if the Democrats were allowed twice as many questions as the Republicans, such a format would be devastating for Kerry.
