CONTROVERSY HITS ABC NEWS POLITICAL DIRECTOR MARK HALPERIN... EXCLUSIVE DEVELOPING... An internal memo written by ABCNEWS Political Director Mark Halperin admonishes ABC staff during coverage of Democrat Kerry and Republican Bush -- not to 'reflexively and artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable'...
What network is tonights moderator from?
went to Drudge and read what he has there. It is the most sicking example of bias I've seen for awhile (and thats saying something). Basically he had decided that while Kerry distorts it isn't central to him winning but it is central to the president winning. This stuff is just wrong, devious, and inexcusable. If Kerry wins this election it will only be because the Press censored postive stories and focued on negatives for Bush like no other time in history. They really should be ashamed but I doubt they are.
Post the whole MEMO! Don't intimate what it says...just give it to us.
That's it, we have our ammo! Time to flood ABC with questions NOW before the Debate starts!!
Three guesses.
ABC
ABC
ABC
ABC, interestingly enough.
But they're not biased at all, no no, couldn'tpossibly be
/massive sarcasm
Many of us said that the MEDIA would go way beyond the shameless crap they pulled in '92.
They are even more Blatant than the old Soviet media.
THIS IS SCARY.
If Kerry wins.....just go ahead and toss your constitutions....cause he will push his communist manifesto.
He already controls the media.
He, Bill, Hitlery, and that a$$hat,RATher will be the new Polit Bureau.
Kerry is not accountable for his lies and the media -ABC- is not to point his lies out to anyone tuned in. Bush is to be slammed at every turn.
Outrageous.
Thank God someone within ABC leaked this.
Halperin needs a dramatic, large-scale response, Dan-Rather style.

ABCNEWS POLITICAL DIRECTOR MEMO SPARKS CONTROVERSY: 'BOTH SIDES NOT 'EQUALLY ACCOUNTABLE'
**Exclusive**
An internal memo written by ABCNEWS Political Director Mark Halperin admonishes ABC staff: During coverage of Democrat Kerry and Republican Bush not to "reflexively and artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable."
The controversial internal memo, obtained by DRUDGE, captures Halperin stating how "Kerry distorts, takes out of context, and mistakes all the time, but these are not central to his efforts to win."
Halperin claims that Bush is hoping to "win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions."
"The current Bush attacks on Kerry involve distortions and taking things out of context in a way that goes beyond what Kerry has done," Halperin writes.
Halperin's claim that ABCNEWS will not "reflexively and artificially hold both sides 'equally' accountable" set off a sparks in St. Louis where media players gathered to cover the second presidential debate.

Like I keep telling my spouse just another 527 for the dnc.
You might be able to get streaming audio from www.wabcradio.com .
well if it's true ABC is also off the list along with CBS. I had been watching the first 3 episodes of 'Lost' but I don't think I'll be watching any more.
What's obvious is that Halperin is stil operating in the pre-Rathergate world...where the insulated liberal news coccon wold allow for such brazen memo-writing with the assumption that a) this is just business as usual and b) even if it was unethical, nobody will expose it since we're all in the same boat.
These are deliberate marching orders, given by an executive of a major news organization to his staff, to slant their coverage towards one candidate in a presidential election. Halperin's head should roll, but it won't.
Halperin says the responsibilities of ABCNEWS staff have "become quite grave."
E-Mail ABC Now - and lets shut down their server. I am ticked at this and will lead off. Who will follow me to ABC.com?
