Your Marines and Sailors have now been in place for just over a month. We continue to build on the foundation which 3/24 left us and with high spirits we continue to execute our mission.

We so often take for granted the great beauty of God’s Creation.  God has given each one of us the freedom to use His Creation for the benefit of humanity or to its detriment.  Your Marines and Sailors have chosen to defend that freedom against anyone who would seek to destroy it, and at the same time, bring harm to humanity and God’s Creation.  It is because of this that God is with us.  St. Paul tells us, “If God is for us, who can stand against us.”  This is not a question for which we seek an answer.  Rather it is a statement of Faith, which gives us strength.

It is with that strength of Faith that we have faced the death of a brother and friend.  I arrived at Fox Battery’s location on the evening of the incident and spent four days with them.  During my time with them, I was humbled and, at the same time, I stood in awe of these Marines and Sailors of 2/10 as we played, laughed, wept and prayed together.  Our resolve to do what is right has not diminished.  Your Marines and Sailors ask that you join with us from across the miles to pray for a speedy and just resolution to our country’s commitment and responsibility to peace, justice and freedom.

The Marines and Sailors of 2/10 continue to pray for you each day and, I ask you to join with us in that prayer until we return home.  As your Chaplain, I want to assure you of my continued prayers for the safety and welfare of our Marines and Sailors and, of my prayers for each and every one of you.

     Fair Winds and Following Seas,

Chaplain Hoedl

“Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him O Lord! And Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him! May His Soul and All the Souls of the Faithful Departed, Through the Mercy of God, Rest in Peace!”

It's not just terrorists....stupidity does its own damage in Iraq, too.

These are always appreciated. They help to counter the
"Still in Saigon" MainStreamMedia.

You always pick up these and it is illustrative of the Good going on in Iraq. If the guy can hold still to take pictures, and a child can receive treatment right out on the street, it is not a dangerous as the media paints it.
