So...how about them Astros kicking the Giants out of the playoff wild card spot :-)?
You do realize the Spankees have a curse of their own, right? They've won NOTHING since the boneheads of NY elected HildeBeast to the Senate.
The Sox WILL win the World Series this year.
Nope.
Um, I think that's *victory,* not desperation, in the air. Brown made only one mistake over six innings, and looked pretty darn sharp out there.
You must be one of those people Kerry was talking about tonight that lives in 'fantasy land.' Maybe your s/n should be short circuit :)
I love how Red Sox fans suggest there's a curse where the Yankees have made it to two World Series over the last three years (incidentally, that's two more World Series than the Red Sox have made it to over that same three years!)
Why argue with people who are fans of a team that hasn't won a World Series since 1918 and only been to four since?
The Cubs have been to the World Series more. The Senators actually won a title.
The city of Boston, and Red Sox fans in general had nothing to do with Ruth leaving. The owner sold his rights to the Yankees, then most of the rest. It was almost as if the Red Sox was a farm team for Ruppert and cohort. If anyone should be cursed, it'd be Henry Frazee and his attempt to finance "No, No, Nanette".
They need to get over this curse business. It really does screw with their minds.
But they revel in their misery, and think they're morally superior because their team hasn't won anything.
At least The Red Sox would tell us there plan on how their gonna do it! Not just say they have a plan on how to get the job done!
I'm sorry, I think my Internet browser is on the fritz because I can't read your entire post. How many World Series' did you say the Spankees have won since Hillary was elected???
For a Red Sox fan to rag about the Yankees somehow having a curse because the Yanks haven't won a World Series in all of three years, while the Red Sox haven't won a World Series in 85 years, is the height of lunacy. Your team hasn't even been in a World Series in 18 years, and you're going to rag on me even though my team made it to the World Series twice in three years?
And incidentally, the RATs call the Yankees not winning a WS since 2000 the Curse of W. Is that the side you want to be on?
Red Sox fans resorting to the "you Yanks haven't won the Series in 3 whole years" card is just about the funniest and at the same time most pathetic cards they've ever played. 85 years of humiliation rots the brain, apparently.
The Red Sox ought to win the whole thing because, on paper I think they're the best team in the postseason. Better than the Cardinals right now IMO. And give the Sox some credit for shutting down a very potent Anaheim lineup, save for some flashes of brilliance by Vladimir Guerrero.
And if there's any year the Yanks look ripe for the taking, it's this one. A Yankee team with some very noticable weaknesses going up against perhaps the best Red Sox team ever?
I am willing to hear some opposing arguments however.
Couldn't argree more....anybody have a decent bullpen we could borrow for next season at Pac Bell?
Are you serious? If the DNC got a team together to play the Yankees, I'd buy a t-shirt with Terry McAuliffe's pic on it and I'd pray for a Yankee loss.
Yankee fan writing
Red Sox have excellent team with great pitching staff. But it's the Kerry comment that will spur them on. Red Sox win Series. Kerry loses Massachusetts. You heard here first.
Winning this time around would mean turning the world on its head. It might open up the inter-dimensional door and let all manner of beasts and monsters in. It would also deprive a lot of Boston fans of their reason for living.
Yankee fan writing again
Remember when Boston won 150 games in a single season? Me neither HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
This "best Red Sox team ever" didn't even win their division's title. The teams of '46, '75, and perhaps even '86 were better, imo.
But you're right about the Yanks being (relatively) weakened this year (despite their 101 wins). .....in the pitching dept., that is. El Duque's "tired arm," Kevin Brown's broken hand and bad back, Vazquez's second-half futitlity, and Mussina's inconsistency and tendency to give up the long ball isn't exactly confidence-inspiring.
Pitching is a concern for the Sox too, although it's not being discussed much. The Yanks are Pedro's self-confessed "daddy" and the nutcase Lowe has been a huge disappointment (for them). And the pen has ben erratic, at best.
