Rush is smokin' today!

Posted on 10/08/2004 9:32:42 AM PDT by fishtank

Good prep for the debate tonight!

I do hope W takes the gloves off. Cheney opened up the line with some good offense a couple of days ago.

Let's roll!

Why didn't the Bush team secretly use RUSH to help in debate prep?

I was just thinking the same thing.

I dunno. Rush sounded to me like he was trying to rally troops in a position that was being overrun by the enemy.....

"Rush pointing out that the 'undecided' voters at the debate tonight will be ponytailed libs!"

Lol, and if we checked their cars, there'd be VWs and Honda Elements with 'Dean For President' bumper stickers, and crystals hanging fron the rearview mirrors.

Good luck to the Twins! I'm a Braves fan. Maybe we'll repeat '91 (Braves winning this time lol)

I'm actually a Braves fan too here in the ATL. I was at the first two playoff games and plan to be at Game 5 if necessary. The Twinkies are my favorite AL team, so I'm hoping for that '91 rematch too.

I'm glad you can stomach the debate - eat a light dinner!

I wondered about those questions. Because if there were anyone like me in the audience they'd be asking, "Mr. President, Why won't you be honest with the American people - about John Kerry? John Kerry has lied about so many things: lied about his war record, lied about his fellow veterans, lied about what has happened in Iraq, even lied about himself in this campaign, given his multiple positions. Why won't YOU be honest with the American people, and call John Kerry a liar?"

I know a lot of people would want to ask a question like that, but of course they couldn't take a chance on that happening, so I wondered how they'd get around it. I have a hunch that Mr. Gibson will have to screen out more than a few of those.

I don't know why Kerry keeps posing for such wonderful pictures for us to use, but I hope he keeps on doing it...

This is a "do-or-die" debate for the President.

I agree. Bush does not have to dominate like Cheney did, but he just has to draw, or at least show he is in command. Thats all. Just compete, not too hard.

In any case Rush is preaching to the choir

As I posted above it was a mistake agreeing to this format and a sign of weakness that the Bush team agreed to it ( afraid not to )

WMD is not defined by the delivery system, but on the ability to cause destruction (nearly all definitions of WMDs include destruction of human life). A truck delivery a warhead may be just as effective as a missile or aircraft.

There are many variations of the definition of a WMD, which causes a lot of political problems for people like Bush. Some definitions are very specific to include nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, but others include radiological (non-nuclear radioactive materials such as in dirty bombs) and conventional explosives (such as WTC and OK city, along with 70% of all terrorist incidents).

One problem with all of the definitions of WMD is that you can have the ingredients for a device all located in one place, but unless the intent is to use it as a weapon, it might not be considered a WMD. A fueled aircraft can be used as a WMD if you fly it into a building with tens of thousands of people inside, but otherwise it is not a WMD. Smoke detectors are not a WMD unless you obtained many of them and used their contents to further enhance the radioactivity of a dirty bomb. Pesticides are not a WMD unless you perhaps use them to poison the drinking supply of a city. Castor beans are not a WMD unless you make ricin out of them. So for some instances of WMDs it is impossible to know if a material is a weapon or not unless you have documentation or past use to justify your definition. An artillery shell with sarin gas is obviously a WMD, but a barrel of radioactive waste is simply suspicious.

Actually, I listened to about 15 minutes then had to turn him off.

Sometimes, Rush is invaluable because he provides insightful analysis on very important issues.

Sometimes, like today, he spends time acting as a de facto shrill for the GOP. C'mon, all this junk about how Bush "didn't lose the debate", how the MSM is poised to "spin you people into believing Kerry wins tonight".

LOL...I have two eyes, two ears and a brain in my head...and, in part because I'm a member of this site, I know quite a bit about most of these issues.

I'm quite capable of determing who execls and who doesn't in these debates, and I don't look to Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, Aaron Brown, Chris Matthews...or Rush Limbaugh to "fill me in" on what I myself have seen.

When Rush is hacking away for the Pres., like he is today, the radio dial turns in my house.
