..."It's not personal," Pipkin said. "It's about her voting record."
Pipkin said his television commercials bashing Mikulski are based on congressional records. The ad claims Mikulski voted for higher taxes 350 times.
Mikulski said that's just wrong. She said about half those 350 votes were procedural votes to simply hear bills and not necessarily to pass them.
Pipkin's ad also claims Mikulski voted against military pay increases.
Mikulski said the ad is true, but it's misleading. She said while she did vote twice against a military pay raise, she also voted for increases 17 times.
"What you can do is take a line out of context ... take a little line item and exaggerate it or distort it," Mikulski said.
"Is it a little vote or a big vote?" Pipkin said. "It just means higher taxes (and she's) trying to distort her own record."
It's too soon to tell if Pipkin's ads are winning him more votes. The most recent scientific poll done back in June had Mikulski trouncing Pipkin by a 2-to-1 margin.
Tucker reported Pipkin plans more attack ads in the weeks to come while Mikulski's ads have highlighted her achievements.
With less than a month to go, Tucker said they also have two debates coming up that could be quite lively.
"Senator Mikulski has a Maryland personality where she shakes her fists in front of TV cameras then goes off to Washington and votes in a way, very different than what Marylanders care about," Pipken said.
"I'm disappointed by what he's doing," Mikulski said. "He's a guy from Dundalk. I thought we were going to use Dundalk rules -- honesty, straight talk, lively discussion -- and instead of trading ideas, he's throwing insults."
Pipkin said he's happy to provide the documentation to prove his ads are correct.

I was born and raised in Maryland and it would thrill me to no end to finally see Mikulski defeated (then Sarbanes). Both of them are worthless.
Bump!
Mikulski is a perfect fit for the wasteland that is baltimore. Both are terrible representations of America and both should be ripped apart and started over/
I have the unshakable feeling that the general public views nearly everything they see and hear as some variant of Reality TV-- that is to say, it's all mainly for entertainment.
Unfortunately, these fools we elect to office write laws that affect or freedoms, lives, and money-- we need to take them more seriously.
Sarbanes is still alive? How can you be sure? I don't think he's been sighted in three or four years.
All too true; however, in the cases of neo-national socialist garbage like Schumer, Kennedy, Snow, Mikulski, Biden, and others of their ilk from the communist police states of the northeast, these scum accurately represent the majority of their constituencies.
Was THAT necessary??? I just lost my lunch.
Well since the dead can vote (in Demowierdland), I guess than vote for the dead as well.....
Apologies for your lost lunch :-)
Which of her chins do you like best? Ugh. Maybe you don't have to be ugly to be a Dem woman, but it doesn't hurt.
None of them. I was sort of following the inverse Ann Coulter rule. That says all threads about Ann should have her picture to remind the male members of this forum that conservatism doesn't have to look like Barry Goldwater. Well the inverse rule says that liberalism looks like Michael Moore. Do you reckon that Moore is an illegitimate offspring of Mikulski?
There certainly is a striking resemblance. Mikulski could definitely be Moore's father.
No Senator should have their record exposed before an election. It would be too logical and unfeeling.
/sarcasm off
In Baltimore and PG county, she's proof that the voters will elect the candidate who delivers the greatest amount of other peoples' plundered taxes. In Montgomery and Howard counties your statement about the socialist culture is undoubtedly correct.
I don't know about that. She's been screwing those of us who work for a living and who believe in limited government since she got elected.
