"Tracking every vehicle: What's the difference in this, and On-Star?"
Who knows? We have OnStar and I think it's great. I don't think we're tracked...but who's to say? My interpretation of OnStar is that we need to contact them before they know exactly where we are, whether it's by a phone call or an inflated airbag. That's my understanding anyway.
Although I've heard of rental cars being tracked. Someone was cited for a speeding ticket via whatever system was installed. I 'think' it got thrown out of court though.
Let me guess - is that a '54 Chev? Something looks odd to me though - not a Chevy?
Planning and implementing are two different things. How, pray tell, is this going to be paid for? How, pray tell, is such an undertaking going to succeed?
I wouldn't bet on this happening anytime soon.
I spoof my grocery store cards, though it's not as impressive as all that. The stores I've seen print the number on the receipts. I find receipts left by the printer, laying in the parking lot etc, print barcode labels and stick them on my cards. I still get my "discount" but every item I purchase adds two errors to their database. Aww, I almost feel bad. Of course, I'm careful only to use cash with a spoofed card...
'55 Chevy Bel Air convertible. Made to order for JOAT! :-)
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwww!
Ahhh - a '55! I know for sure '53 and '56.
'54 and '55 - those two years confuse me by the tail ends.
As a kid, this was a game played on the road. I always did get those two years mixed up, lol.
PS, forgot to say - SWEET car!
What exactly is there they can put in your car that would know you've got a crack in your windshield and it's getting bigger?!
A cheap potential meter circuit that would measure the resistance within the antishatter film laminated between the two layers of safety glass...
Also, the grills were different, but that's not obvious n the pictures.
I keep threatening the wife that her next car will be a restored '57 4 door hardtop in blue and white. Hauls a ton of groceries and won't be mistaken for every other POS in the lot. I think that she wants me to make good on the threat, tho.... so about that '63 split window
Oh, and, the 55 had a gas door, the '56 taillight opened up almost like the '57. See the door in the picture?
That is a beautiful example of a fine piece of machinery.
I hate to admit this. My Mom had a '57 Chev. Tourquise/white.
It was too old at the time.
Boy, was I dumb or what!
Oh, and, the 55 had a gas door, the '56 taillight opened up almost like the '57.

Thanks for the memories!!!!! par4
Funny recall, trying to find the gas tank. Oh ya - left tail-light.
Thanks for a good funny, par4!
PS, wasn't there a tailight that screwed off for gas? I'm thinking Pontiac.
An ultrasonic signal generator that sends a minute wave; the speed is affected by the increasing loss of integrity in the glass.
dear God, who would want to work in a place where they track all the cars? Talk about heartburn city. Maybe it will be a punishment job.
The same way they enforce mandatory insurance coverage.
Longitudinal or compression 'waves' I'm familiar with; 'minute' waves I'm not.
Small, in the sense of "invisible".
