I read this just before you posted it and thought the same thing about that last line.

If anyone was lamenting bush's standing in the presidential race, all they need to do is ask themselves where they'd rather bush be- where HE is right now, or where kerry is right now?

An important point; the US was at war with Germany prior to Pearl Harbor. We were fighting German naval units in the Atlantic to take pressure off the British Navy. The German DOW simply made it easier for FDR to formally deal with the German menace (and their Italian and French allies).

Now if only we could get Bush, Rove, and Gillespie to read this. They need to spend more time explaining to the average ignorant citizen why we have done what we did.

i hate to admit it, but this is good stuff... since when does the New York Post hope to help the Pres.? I am dumbfounded. It's almost as bad as David Greggory of NBC saying, hey, duh, I thought Bush won the debate, but my friends told me Kerry did, so I just changed my mind...

doy doy doy

Kerry's a turd

I love ya, Morris, (in a platonic way, mind you), but if you could find the time to help the phreakin Clintons, (while putting up with all of Hillary's sh*t, and getting slugged in the face by Bill), why can't you hoof it back to the White House and help our buddy W directly, instead of trying to advise him via the mass media?

Don't you kinda sorta kinda OWE it to us, Dick?

It is an act of insanity to "debate" a liar with no character..

Kerry is a liar with no character.

I would think that a duel would be a hell of a lot more rational and productive...

Failing that -- I would simply suggest that President Bush show up with a very sharp pencil, and USE IT...

UPDATED CAMPAIGN SIGNS FROM KERRY CAMPAIGN.

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY... if it passes your global test, of course.

How about "our allies neglected us"?

And when Kerry accuses Bush of neglecting our allies

Why would Kerry worry about allies? We had all the allies we wanted in the first Gulf War and Kerry still voted 'no' on it.

i am glad you are not on the President's prep team. He will do just fine without you, thank you.

The DNC would love for him to respond as you have suggested.

As for your first analogy, they would say Osama and Saddam are ideological opposites: Osama an islamo-fascist, Saddam a secular tyrant who had a Christian for a Minister of Defense (Taziz).

Your second point is completely wrong-headed as it suggests there is a static, finite number of A-Q that are being cut down by our troops. The senior leaders of any terrorist network, A-Q or Baathist, are not the ones with AK's in their jammies or the homicide bombers, they are the poor schmucks at the bottom that are easily recruited.

All the President needs to do is tell the American people that it is better to err on the side of over-protection than under-protection. He needs to show his confidence in his judgement to act against Iraq in order to counter a threat that could have/ would have been all too real. If he shows America he is confident in that role as protecter, than he will mop the floor up with floppy.

Very cogent advice.

Bush has to have simple, direct, easy to understand points that are NOT fall back phrases. Talk to us like we're having a conversation over the kitchen table over a late night snack.

And less pre-planned stuff in general. Just be yourself Mr. President. I saw a show on some of the old debates, and W debating with Gore, when Gore walked up all tough in his space and W just kinda shrugged and gave a quick nod gesture - absolutely beautiful.

THAT is the guy we need to show up on Friday. THAT is the George W. Bush that can beat John Kerry.

Round em up, W! BRING IT ON!

On the domestic front, talk about the...

MISERY INDEX!

Yes, the real one, not the fake Kerry-Edwards (Tax Me!-Sue Me!) scam.

The Misery Index was the definition of domestic policy credibility of the past three decades.

But because it is so favorable to Dubya, it has fallen off the table.

Talk it up, folks.

The Misery Index is where it's at for the domestic debate.

KARL ROVE, WHERE IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU ON THIS?

While the Japan/Germany comparison doesn't mean much to anyone other than history buffs, it is interesting to note that the allies agreed to concentrate on defeating Germany first. It probably made more sense from a logistical standpoint, but Morris has a point about the "diversion" comment.

Here's my tip:

When Kerry gives one of his long winded responses about being a uniter and not a divider, here's what I'd like to hear:
"My opponent's running mate said, just a few days ago, that anyone who votes Republican has lost their mind. How is this being a uniter? What he's saying is that half the country, more or less,(I hope more), has lost their mind. What are they going to say to those people if they win? Oh, you have you minds back now??? I have never, in all of my campaigning, insulted the voters of any of my opponenets. I keep my focus on my opponent.
