One American soldier was killed and two wounded when their convoy was attacked with an unidentified explosive device near rebel-held Fallujah in Iraq.
The attack happened yesterday at around 9:45pm local time.
All three soldiers were wounded in the blast, but one later died of his injuries at a military hospital in the capital, Baghdad. The other two remain at the hospital. One is listed in serious condition and the other stable.
The named of the dead soldier was withheld pending notification of the family. The attack is being investigated.
As of Wednesday, 1,064 members of the US military had died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to the US Defence Department. Of those, 809 died of hostile action. The figures include three military civilians.

Thought the insurgents were negotiating with the Allawi government.
Time to clean out the rats nest.

1,064 dead in 1½ years, I wonder how many dead we had at this point during WWII, Korea, or Vietnam....

I know..We lost a lot of good men in Viet Nam, and Kerry went a took a dump on all of them the bastard...
They(the Dems) want to take our love for our fighting men and our concern for their safety and use it for his benefit.
I wish to God he would come aboard a Marine transport, after he looses the election without cameras...I wonders if he would receive the welcome he expects....

It's time to stop making military decisions based on what the PR ramifications in the rest of the middle east are. PR is important but when it takes priority over the lives of our soldiers and Marines it's gone too far.
If ten percent of the 300,000 civilians in Fallujah die in the process it would be tragic. But to put that into perspective consider that 100,000 Filipino civilians died in retaking Manila from the Japanese in WWII.

I know, I believe after Bush wins the election we will see a shift in the tactics for the better. He will be able to take off the glove and get it done.

Prayers for family of the fallen and quick mending for the wounded.
With that said, MORE BIG BOMBS and LESS TROOPS to crush these cockroaches...

"I know..We lost a lot of good men in Viet Nam, and Kerry went a took a dump on all of them the bastard.." It's mind boggling how a traitorous coward like John Kerry can be running neck and neck with a good man like Bush for the Presidency. I can see how a despicable man like John Kerry might bully and con his way into the Kremlin during the days of Communism, but in a voting society of intelligent people it's beyond understanding how he has such a strong backing. It's just plain baffling.

Let's get it straight.
Fallujah needs to be leveled immediately.
It won't be, as strategic truces are negotiated by pin-heads and morons who do not understand the Arab culture.
Americans will die, as we once again discover we are shocked, shocked, by the betrayal of a cunning enemy who knows too well our naive concepts of warfare.
Fallujah will eventually be leveled and the insurgents killed and humbled of course, because there is no other way.
So why let Americans die first?
