Fun at the Dixie-Classic Fair in Winston-Salem: 15-yr-old unhinges county Dem chair
NC Board ^ | October 6, 2004 | Taxrelief

Posted on 10/06/2004 5:55:09 PM PDT by TaxRelief

From the NC Board and saved for Taxduction1 to read when she grows up:

Yesterday, the family and I went to the Dixie-Classic Fair in Winston-Salem. The Republican booth was a rocking place to be; Lot's of people stopping by; lot's of laughter carrying down the aisles.

On a lark, Taxdeduction1 went over to the Donkey zone--which was deserted except for two workers--and posed a question or two.

"Why should I vote for John Kerry?" she asked. The two gentlemen manning the booth very nicely pointed out John Kerry's desire to protect the environment.

"Does he care about women's rights?" she asked.

"Oh, yes!" the Forsyth County Dem chair answered.

"Does he think women should have the right to express themselves?"

"Absolutely!"

"Do you think voting is a good way for women to express themselves?" she continued.

They made a great deal out of explaining the women's suffrage movement and how much the Democrat party had done for women's rights.

Taxdeduction1 listened carefully, then moved in for the kill; "Well, Thank God the women in Iraq and Afghanistan will now have the opportunity to vote! Senator Kerry must be happy about that!"

According to Taxdeduction1, this was the moment when their "smiles changed from pleasant to steely."

"Well that's your opinion," the chair said.

"Most facts are opinions, aren't they?" she replied.

Seeing they had closed themselves down, she wished them a "Have a good day!" and walked away. As she turned away they could see what every passerby and lingerer had noticed during the entire exchange: "Bush/Cheney 2004" on the back of her shirt.

---

Also noted at the fair: Bush/Cheney stickers and buttons on folks everywhere. I counted 53 in one hour. Kerry stickers and buttons were nowhere, except on a few cars in the employee parking lot.

On another little note, I had a conversation with Mike Finley, the local talk show host, about how much email is clogging his in box lately. He said he has no idea how to handle the situation except to scan down for listeners' names that he recognizes.

Thanks for stating that, William. FACTS are NOT opinions. FACTS can be objectively verified. This is the problem, the liberals have changed everything to opinion, and their's are twisted indeed!

The opinion of an honest man is a fact -- and in fact, the only kind of fact there is

Has anyone else observed any trends at the fairs around the state this year?

I saw a similar situation at a local end-of-summer weekend festival here in the south SF bay area. It was very encouraging to see in California.

The Republican booth was busy all weekend; the dim booth was virtually dead. There's just no enthusiasm for Kerry.

Hey - one question: what kind of mail is WSJS Mike getting - did he say? Is he simply getting spammed from every special interest in the book, or what (I haven't written him yet about their affiliation with Dan Rather -- I've been working up to that!).

Has anyone else observed any trends at the fairs around the state this year?

We were at one on September 11. Most folks were sporting Bush/Cheney stickers on their shirts and I didn't see one single Kerry bumper sticker.

Last weekend at the local flea market, was the first time I saw a Kerry bumpersticker on a car that did not have out of state plates.

Of course the Eastern Shore of VA tends to be on the rather cnservative side............

Those ass-clowns (hey, that's literal too!) always go for the kids. It's insidious.

WSJS-Mike wouldn't commit to the source of the problem mail. Reading between the lines? It had something to do with post-debate spamming. Discretion is the (frustrating) Winston-Salem way, though.

"More proof that John Edwards fever is SWEEPING THE NATION!!!"

But remember that a fever usually means a pathogen or pathogens have invaded, and can end in death.

I don't know about trends at state fairs, since I haven't visited one yet. Did you go by the Gideons booth at the Dixie Classic and pick up your free Testament?

I will be there Thursday night to visit with passersby about the Good News. Stop by if you're visiting.

At the Issaquah "Salmon Days Festival", both the demonic-rats and GOP had booths. Next to the demonic-rat booth was a booth featuring "guide dogs for the blind". How apropos.
