Gentlemen,
I've been lurking on this board for a while but felt I needed to comment on this issue. I've also noticed he uptick in violence against Republicans through these fora. We need to remember that the press will continue to ignore this story, reporting instead on baseless accusations of minority voter disenfranchisement by Republicans UNTIL the first Republican on Democrat violence occurs. Only then will it become a headline, and it'll be reported as a bipartisan brawl rather than the Dem thuggery that it is. Republicans need to keep the high road on this.
I agree with the initial post, the proper response can only be to put new signs up and mow the lawn. Republicans musn't be drawn into this violence - not only because it's despicable; but also because we WILL lose in the press.

Point well taken...But I don't know how much self-control I could muster at the sight of someone on my lawn defacing my property. I certainly wouldn't shoot them, but i'd be awfully hard-pressed not to beat the snot outta them.

That won't stop it. Turning the other cheek, which is what just replacing what they damage so that they can come back the next night and damage that, hardly ever does. Shooting the bastards will at least get their attention. Don't go looking for them, but if you live in a state such as Texas that protects your right to protect yourself and your property, let 'em have it the minute they touch your stuff. If they merely trespass, you probably ought to give them one verbal warning to move it
