LOS ANGELES(AP) - A group of Hispanic activist is promising to "punish" Governor Schwarzenegger for his veto of legislation that would have let illegal immigrants get drivers licenses.
Leaders of Latino Movement USA held a rally today in Los Angeles. The group is soliciting the donation of movies the former actor starred in for a symbolic destruction in December.
Last month, Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill that would have let up to two million immigrants drive legally.
The legislation's supporters have vowed to go after the governor, whom they think caved in to public sentiment.
Schwarzenegger has said the bill ignored his requirement of key security safeguards -- an identifying mark that would differentiate them from licenses held by US citizens and legal residents.

You, personally, may not fit my description.
But 99.99% of the folks who make illegal immigration their pet issue do fit that description, because they've been making the same damn hollow threat for eight years now.
Bottom line: when illegal immigration is presented as one of a number of issues demanding attention, it doesn't make the top five.
There is much support, in the abstract, for doing "something" about illegal immigration.
But God help you if you make a specific proposal that might personally inconvenience someone who abstractly supports doing "something" about immigration.

And by the time we're ALL talking about it, it will be after a horrible, terrible disaster - and THEN the REACTION will be far, far, far worse...for crying out loud, I've seen reports of M.E. Moos recruiting Latino terrorists from South and Central America to infiltrate America with. Hell, have you seen reports of what's going on in American prisons re:Muhammadans?
Our Homeland Security is not near complete until
a)Our borders and ports really are 99.9999% secured from 'packers'
and
b)We take count of everyone that's already here (i.e., profiling and registration for Muhammadans - they are the war-time universe right now of our enemy pool of participants).
After that, there's:
-internment
-detainment
-deportation
-etc.
I just don't understand why the case can't be made already, before death and destruction.

It is more than past time for us to blockade trade with Mexico and then expel every unnaturalized Mexican national--legal or not--in the United States with the exception of Jorge Ramos. What should happen to Ramos? Perhaps we should look to history for that answe. In ancient Rome, they had some pretty crazy methods of punishment... on occasion, for example, they were known to use endless tickling of the feet as a brutal form of execution
Yep. And when they make America into Mexico, they'll start going to Canada. Maybe THEN our nice Northern British friends will begin considering controlling immigration.
On the other hand, we've been at the front door of this problem for decades and we STILL haven't learned.
