Arab American PAC Endorsing Kerry This Time

(CNSNews.com) - The Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) announced it is backing the Kerry/Edwards ticket in the 2004 presidential election, following a two-hour discussion of the general membership in Dearborn, Mich., Tuesday night.

"We believe Senator Kerry will make America stronger, safer and more respected throughout the world," said AAPAC President Abed Hammoud in a press release. AAPAC endorsed George W. Bush four years ago, but since then, members have expressed dissatisfaction with Bush's policies.

"With respect to civil rights and foreign policy, we hope Senator Kerry will change the course the Bush administration has put America on," Hammoud said.

"We played a role in electing George Bush and we will play a major role in unseating him," said Osama Siblani, the immediate past president of the group. "He has shaken the very foundations of this country with his assault on civil rights. And no one knows better than Arab Americans how negatively the Arab and Muslim worlds view the United States right now. That has to change if we are to have a peaceful, prosperous future," Siblani added.

AAPAC leaders said they will now focus on campaigning for Kerry and the other candidates the group has endorsed.

"The Arab American community is ready to work with the Kerry/Edwards campaign to get out the vote for Kerry in this very important state and ensure victory in the race for president," Hammoud said.

AAPAC, an independent political action committee, was founded in 1998.

CAIR and HAMAS will probably be next along with Al Qaida to endorse a Kerry presidency for a 'safer' America.....safer for whom though?

Am not surprised. What would be surprising if the islamics would denounce the terrorist acts and help in rooting out terrorism amongst the islamic believers.

That's code for, 'Kerry will hand the country over to us within six months' if he is elected.

The only reason they endorsed Bush in 2000 was the presence of Holy Joe Lieberman on the Donkey ticket
