Bush: You'd Smirk, Too

(CNSNews.com) - In a speech to an enthusiastic crowd in Wilkes Barre, Pa., on Wednesday, President Bush suggested that after hearing what Sen. John Kerry had to say at last week's debate, it's no wonder the cameras captured him making faces.

Democrats played up Bush's smirks and scowls the day after the debate, even releasing a 51-second video of Bush grimacing in reaction to Kerry's words.

On Wednesday, running down a list of what Kerry has said in recent days, Bush noted that the senator has "come down firmly on every side of the Iraq War."

Said Bush: "He stated that Saddam Hussein was a threat; and that America had no business removing that threat.

"Sen. Kerry said our soldiers and marines are not fighting for a mistake; but also called the liberation of Iraq a 'colossal error.'

"He said we need to do more to train Iraqis; he also said we shouldn't be spending so much money over there.

"He said he wants to hold a summit meeting so he can invite other countries to join what he calls 'the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time.'

"He said terrorists are flowing across the Iraqi border; but also said that fighting those terrorists is a diversion from the war on terror.

You hear all that and you understand why somebody would make a face," Bush said to laughter and applause.

Am still laughing at that line. The crowd loved it!

That would have been a huge mistake.

What he should have done was show more outrage and forcefully addressed Kerry's nay-saying and lying.

What a great sense of humor our President has.

That's certainly true but the laugh line has Karen Hughes written all over it. She's the best.

Dubya should repeatedly watch Cheney mop the floor with Edwards. Cheney dominated throughout, but the times in which he gave a five-second response and shut up, those were PRICELESS.

Dubya should have walked off the stage right after Kerry starting his ranting and raving about all the negatives on Iraq.

You're joking, right? Hell, the press would have had a field day if Bush had walked off. You think the press is interested in truth, honor or integrity? If they were, they wouldn't be carrying water for Kerry.

Sakes...

Did anyone else notice Edwards face when Cheney bitch-slapped him on his lack of a senate record?.....he looked like a little kid getting ready to pass out!!!....after that...if u watch it again..every time Cheney got him the same look appeared.....to me that look was priceless!!!.....and he sure sipped a lot of water when he felt the next slap coming!!!....He may be a good country lawyer...but when he went before the Supreme "Cheney" Court...he was intimidated!!!

One more thing: There's NO doubt in my mind that Edwards's diatribe about the Cheney family had one purpose, that being an opportunity to scream to the world that Cheney has a homosexual daughter. I thought Cheney handled that incredibly well.

In short, the whole affair looked like exactly what it was, a seasoned LEADER vs. a slimy, smarmy, ambulance chaser. I do so wish Dubya had the serious eloquence of Cheney.

Walking off would be a sign of weakness. It would have been better if he could have kept better composure. Bush just doesn't have as much patience as Cheney, though he sure demonstrated a good deal of it.

Disagree about the diatribe. It was a simple prevarication of the gay marriage issue.

What a great speech today by the President. It was Bush at his best, and the crowd loved it (actually, the crowd bordered on being delirius!!) My favorite line (and there were so many) was: A President has to stand up to the trial lawyers. Instead, John Kerry put one on his ticket!!
And the crowd goes wild..............

FOUR MORE YEARS!! FOUR MORE YEARS !!

That was my impression too (what Bush said). It reminded me of the Yogi Barra/Aflack commercial. Yogi is talking and the Duck is standing there shaking his head with his beek open. He then storms out of the barbershop, shaking his head and screaming.(for a duck that is)
