Kerry says Franco-German troops unlikely

Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry conceded yesterday that he probably will not be able to convince France and Germany to contribute troops to Iraq if he is elected president.

The Massachusetts senator has made broadening the coalition trying to stabilize Iraq a centerpiece of his campaign, but at a town hall meeting yesterday, he said he knows other countries won't trade their soldiers' lives for those of U.S. troops.

"Does that mean allies are going to trade their young for our young in body bags? I know they are not. I know that," he said. Asked about that statement later, Mr. Kerry said, "When I was referring to that, I was really talking about Germany and France and some of the countries that had been most restrained." "Other countries are obviously more willing to accept responsibilities," he added, as he took questions from reporters in a school yard in Tipton, Iowa.

"Ambassador Bremer differed with the commanders in the field," campaign spokesman Brian Jones said. "That is his right, but the president has always said that he will listen to his commanders on the ground and give them the support they need for victory."

National Security Council spokesman Sean McCormack declined to say what advice Mr. Bremer gave the president, but said Mr. Bush honored all requests from the "chain of command." Mr. McCormack described the chain of command as commanders in the field and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.
"President Bush made it clear whatever commanders needed they were going to get and that is what happened," Mr. McCormack said.

So Kerry has finally conceded to the reality is overwhelming presence isn't enough to bring France and germany along for the ride?

Kerry, have you perhaps considered that if you and your friends in the Dem party hadn't obstructed Bush at every turn they might have been more willing to join us long ago, at least in some greater capacity? All you've done is help hype anti-American sentiment so any liklihood of their joining us is now gone.

Kerry says Franco-German troops unlikely....

The terrorists are deeply saddened that they won't have French troops to humiliate.

Actually, we should be happy about this.

What with the Germans trying to take over the French and the French surrendering to the busboys at the local hotels, we'd NEVER get any work out of them.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Can somebody explain that to me?

Following a day behind Iran to Kerry: Drop Dead'.

Both of Kerry's major platform points about how he'd have 'done things differently' are shot down within 36 hours.

There's no reason to elect this man.

It's meaningless media-placating filler designed to open an escape route for Kerry to the campaign bus.

The realization that close to 50% of Americans can seriously consider this traitorous, lying, U.N. worshiping poseur as Commander in Chief ----- is shocking...

The Government schools and MSM seem to have succeeded in dumbing down America to a level where a lunatic like Kerry can seriously challenge the highest position in the country...

Arm thy selves neighbors ......

I think he is just testing to see how stupid people that continue to support him are.

I can picture him thinking before he answers a question: Hmmm... The only thing I have left that I have been saying consistently is that we should get more international support. Let me try this new line...

What's that sound? Sounds like that tall guy on the other side of the aisle just fell into a hole in the floor, and the only thing keeping his head visible is the carpet, kinda like that scene in "The Money Pit".

Hmm. I wonder if this problem applies also to the many heads of state who want to see Bush replaced by Kerry? [snicker]

Thank you for understanding my many clear and consistent positions on this."

SNL had a skit about the first debate. Pretty lame overall, but they had one good part.

To paraphrase Kerry on his flip-flopping: "I've consistently been for the war when speaking in front of pro-war crowds. I've been consistently against the war in front of anti-war crowds. That's not flip-flopping, that's pandering, and America deserves a president that knows the difference."

Hey Kerry: Although the alphabet news outlet would dearly love to relive the Vietnam protest days, like you, it's not going to happen.
