That's what I though when the Chargers/Falcons reached the super bowl,
and then when the Pat's won I thought that surely the end was near.
I think the Angels will take it again this year in 6 over the Cardinals.
LOL
Red Sox will do what they always ALWAYS ALWAYS do...choke and lose to the mighty Yankees.
I doubt the Red Sox even get past the Angels, but if they do I wouldn't mind seeing them beat the Twins or Yankees to advance to the WS. Of course, the sweetest outcome then would be to see a little Texas butt-whoopin' by the Astros on the Boston Beanheads (a little preview of the Nov 2 Texas vs Taxachussetts showdown). Doubly ironic would be the fact that one Texan Roger the Rocket Clemons would have kicked the Bosox butts out of the playoffs last year as a Yankee and then he would do it again this year as an Astro.
Yes it it was a big story this summer and very conclusive. It seems a food vendor at Fenway found a 1918 penny stuck in some hole. I am convinced.
The writer forgot about one thing.....THE CURSE !
Only 14 seasons to go for the 100th anniversary of the last Red Sox series win. Only 4 for the Cubs.
WHAT????? Have the Cardinals decided not to play in the post-season? I gotta call Tony L....
Yeah... but the Red Sox FEAR the Rally Monkey!
Yes, it has, didn't you hear? Something about a home run ball in Fenway being caught by a guy who lives in Ruth's old house. It was in Sports Illustrated a few weeks ago.
I'm a Sox fan by marriage. I can't take another postseason like last one. It's really hard watching a 46-year-old man crying.
Clemems was driven from the game early on last year. Musina came on and shut them down for a few innings which allowed the wanks to catch up.
I'll always hate Roger Clemens. He dogged it the last 2 years of his contract because the GM at the time called him on the carpet for showing up fat and out of shape after the 94 strike. He talked about how important family was at the end of his contract but instead of going to Texas to pitch he went up to Canada. The Texas Con Man was his name in Boston afetr he left.
The Bosox will get their chance again in 1918
The Red Sox have one of the stongest set of batters in any line-up, ever.
Which is going to make it even more painful for them when they lose to the Twins.
(By the way, I think you have one of the funniest screen names I've seen in a while!)
I'm originally from the Boston area, and used to go to Fenway quite often because my Dad knew a guy with season tickets.
Right. As the author says at the end, there's every reason for the Red Sox to win - except that they're the Red Sox.
As much as I hope the Sox win--I've been a fan all my life and went to see them play in Baltimore this past weekend--I know this team all too well, and in fact, they are repeating their usual pattern: Strong start ---> losing streak ---> Yankees take the lead ---> glorious late season comeback that falls just short ---> Yankees win AL-East and Red Sox win wild card ---> Red Sox win first round of playoffs ---> Red Sox lose to Yankees in the next round of the playoffs ---> Red Sox fans talk about "next year."
