Israelis force down Lufthansa jet
BBC ^ | 10/5/2004 | BBC

Posted on 10/05/2004 6:37:20 AM PDT by Rutles4Ever

Israeli jet fighters have forced an incoming Lufthansa airliner to land in Cyprus after a bomb alert that German officials had not considered serious. "We wanted to fly to Tel Aviv but the Israeli authorities forced us to land in Larnaca," said a Lufthansa official.

The flight from Frankfurt landed safely and security staff are searching it.

Three passenger jets - two from Greece to New York and one British Airways flight from Berlin - have been diverted after bomb hoaxes in the last 10 days.

"We came to the conclusion with the German authorities that this alert was not serious," a spokeswoman told the AFP news agency.

The threat was transmitted by telephone call to the Lufthansa office in Frankfurt.

There were 331 passengers and 18 crew on board the Boeing 747-400 jet, the spokeswoman said.

We would be very concerned about your Presidential Election, if it would have large effects on us. But indeed, for us there won´t be much change, the current operations will go on. Sure, you´ll never know what happens in the future, but in the end your President has not that many alternatives how to handle certain situations these days - and I´m sure that this would also apply to Kerry. Anyway, I expect Bush to win.

By tinkering with the campaign plan and leaking targeting data they did, in effect, veto the plan because it was no longer an effective option.

BTW, you write well.

I know, but what has this (LH bomb threat on its way to Tel Aviv) to do with Kerry, or with Pres. Bush?

You've been here how long? The question you brought up raises several of its own.

Have you already forgotten 9-11?

Do you think that this incident might be part of the ongoing Terror War brought by Islamist against civilazation?

Who do you think would treat these 'incidents' with more seriousness, Bush or Kerry?

All of these news stories are, in many ways, simply real life Pro-Bush reminders to the American people that the election results will directly affect all of our lives.

That said, you might be happier elsewhere on the net for the next 4 or 5 weeks. We've got an election to win.

I've criticized Bush. But I'm totally supporting him and Cheney.

Any faults they might have are minor skin blemishes compared to the major defects of their opponents. If Kerry gets in, our entire foreign policy will collapse, the economy will suffer from his punative tax scheme, and the war on terror will be left up to obtaining the consent of the Euroweenies.

Once Bush is re-elected, we must start a political drive to get Tancredo more publicity and force Bush to revise his open border with Mexico policy. As for the latter serious problem, don't look to the Dems to solve that one either. They LIKE illegal invaders.

You said that Germany took profit from oil smuggling and armament sales to Iraq. Any evidence for this claim?

I'm not suprized you feign ignorance of such a well known fact.

I usually don't respond to some one as ill informed as you are, especially as it takes Less than 10 Seconds to get the information.

Your boy Kerry has been bragging about bringing in more foreign leaders to the coalition and France and Germany have made it clear they will NOT join if Kerry is elected.

Makes sense why these countries tried so hard to protect Saddam's regime and fight against his removal, their Weapons and Oil for Blood cash flow would be exposed.

Kerry's coalition of Foreign leaders include Saddam Hussein (He's in jail but you will have to do some research to prove it to your self I imagine) OBL, Arafat I could go on and on but you get the picture.

All of these foreign leaders want Kerry elected and would be glad to help him disarm America.

When Kerry is elected watch for Uday and Qusay to be ice skating.

The irony is that you are here, a German high school student, on a Conservative American website, trying to correct my statement about the Germans aiding terrorists.

what are you doing to further "conservatism" in your own country?

Further, you ignore the sacrifices of those Iraqi allies we do have ,while your country does NADA!!!

As Americans- we know all about making sacrifices for the freedom of Germany -and now we know about making sacrifices for the freedom of Iraq. At lest the first time your country was wise enough to let America do the job( Allies then?), and stay out of the way.

This time? No! I say keep your mouth shut about what you do not support or understand-

You see we do not need to pass your "Global test" young Mr. Germany.

Ironic? Why yes it.

I apologize for having called you a "Madam". My fault.

First of all, I am a student of law, and not a HS student. Then, I am an active party member of the biggest party in Germany - the Christian Democratic Union, which has supported the Iraq war against strong criticism in the German public.

Third, you are ignorant about the participation of Germany in the war on terrorism, which is not only fought in Iraq, Mrs. Know-it-all! Are our troops in Afghanistan and at the Horn of Africa or not? Have our special forces fought along with yours or not?

I guess talking with you is wasted time, since you cannot distinguish between friend and enemy.

Farewell,

Michael

WTF? I never said that Kerry is "my boy". But I should have been clear that weapon sales after it became illegal are meant - the legal ones (before 1991) cannot be criticized, right? After that date, you will find that the German government has enforced the export ban, and held trials against those who breached that law.

Well the last time we had a little exchange about the glories of the German country in the War on terror, and the need for America to explain itiself about the prison scandal you posted a link to your high school. I guess you have graduated in the past few months and gone on to to study law at some school? Sure.

First of all-did your leader try to block our attempts to get rid of Saddam? Why yes, I think he did. You want to fight the terrorists in the Horn of Africa- and you dare criticize President Bush's plan?

BTW- this isn't just OUR war bud- and you have everything to gain from protecing freedom and getting rid of terrorists. This is a war on terror. It is us or them. You claim to be a Christan.. well then you are on the terrorist's list- they want you dead. So wise up.

If I were you I would work a bit harder in your own country to protect freedom throughout the world, then show up on an American Conservative web site and berate the President of the United States... the guy who is doing something about terrorism.

My enemy is anyone who thinks that America needs to pass some sort of Global test- put down by corrupt foreign leaders- ( that would be your guy- not mine).

Maybe you got something wrong on me. I have graduated 4 years ago and I have served my country in the armed forces, still from time to time in the Reserves. I am studying since 3 years - so it wasn´t me posting a link to "my High School", lol. Look it up, you must be confusing me with someone else.

Alrighty then, I´m glad that you see it is a global war on terrorism. Now have you checked the DoD sites? There´s a page showing all the nations that are engaged in it - and my country is -wonder oh wonder- on that list. Iraq, well, was different, and I know many people who claim that there wouldn´t be that much terrorism if the US had not marched in... I guess this is true, but this doesn´t change the fact that those terrorists would have turned against US at another time or place.

Re:

"Maybe you can experience our democratic society one day on your own. Make sure that you visit Berlin - a beautiful city between history and presence, and of course Munich, you will love the Bavarian cordial kindness,..."

Thanks, Mate.

I would love to, actually, but finances and health sort of limit our travel options.

Not only would we surely enjoy the Bavarian kindness, but we hear that the BEER is top-rate over there, too!
Wish I could pop over for Oktoberfest, and buy my buddy in Bruum a brew or two!

Deutch is one of those languages I've always wanted to learn, although I don't really know why. Someday, maybe.

It might have something to do with my particular affection for BMW motorcycles and Mauser rifles, I suppose.

well someone with your screen name, mannerisms and general Blame America first style- was posing as a Jewish high school student a few months back.

I don't need to check the DOD web site to know who are allies are- and to know there are Iraqis who are fighting in Iraq against terrorists.

I realize there are a scant few troops (23) who were deployed to Afghanistan back in 2003. Late.. but good- Of course Your leader, supported by your country, still has done nothing in Iraq other than tried to block our attempts to take Saddam off the streets-and it could be because there were a few German folks who were making a good deal of money off of Saddam in power. Really nice.

That must be how you pay back a country who suffered for Germany- and continues to suffer for Germany's freedom today.

So you want to explain to the police in training and the people in Iraq who are dying - while helping our troops- that they are not our allies? You want to tell them they are not doing as much as the Few German troops in the Horn of Africa are doing to fight terrorists?

Ummm.. Hello Iraq doesn't have an official government at the moment. Could that be why you don't see their name on a list?

You may have served your country- but you have done nothing for America, you have done nothing to pay back those who gave you freedom- the very freedom we protect by fighting terrorism today. We ,the country and the ancestors of the people who died for your freedom.

You think it is true that America brought terrorism to Iraq? You showing up here and pointing fingers is disgusting to me.

Why don't you go study LAW.. in your cushy little school.. and continue to live off the backs of good men and women who have laid their lives so you could be a smart Alec. Try not to think of the families who have suffered, and children who have lost a parent while they were fighting for freedom. Be they Iraqi- American- Italian or Polish.

You are nothing but a spoiled pampered leftist.

Your are such a big brave soldier- why don't you go into Iraq and help with the cause and help Iraqi children get the freedom that was handed to you?

AGAIN: WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM???

You refuse to look up things, you even don´t check my screen name. I am not a jewish High School student and I am not posting in a "blame America first" style. Get real and wake up!

There are 2,500 German soldiers in Afghanistan, not many, I know, but still the 2nd largest contingent behind the US.
We´ve been there since 2001! Since 2003, 2,000 German soldiers stand guard to protect US facilities in Germany. That was a kind gesture to make US soldiers available for the Iraq mission.

You don´t know anything of German politics, or you would know that our opposition resulted from the pacifist ideology of the people.

WHEN DID I SAY THAT IRAQIS ARE NOT YOUR ALLIES??
AND: Surely Iraq has a government right now. Have you lived under a rock on July 1st??

Don´t you think too that America brought terrorism to Iraq? I mean, the invasion was an invitation for all the cockroaches to come to Iraq. What I add, is, that those insects would have come out of their holes anyway, so it was just a different place or time they came out.

You call the University of Hamburg a crushy little school? I don´t know where you live and what you do, but we´re proud of our city, which was free when nobody thought of the USA.

"You are nothing but a spoiled pampered leftist."
That´s enough. Take this back or I have to report this. This is far beyond the bottomline.

I don´t go to Iraq because my country is not sending soldiers there. I serve my country and noone else.

I said how many they sent in 2003, not since. Learn to comprehend what you are reading.

I don't care to know anything of German politics.. because I think they stink!

If it were not for Germany and France good people may not be dying in Iraq today. And where was your grand opposition when your leaders tried to block us from getting a job done, not just for the united States but for the civilized world? Where was your finger pointing then?

BTW- What are you going to report me for? For saying America is not to blame for the terrorist problem in Iraq and for taking exception with people who do think that. Are you going to report me for defending Iraqi people who are working and dying in the streets of Iraq for freedom? Go ahead.

Go ahead and report me for saying Germans are being jerks on the issue of Iraq. Go ahead.

Go ahead and report me for pointing out that it appears to me that you sit on a high horse, accusing and hypothesizing while real men are fighting and getting killed trying to rid the world of terrorists.

Oh but why see the bigger picture.. you have only Germany to be concerned about!?

I think you should thank God that Americans, historically, don't feel that way-or Hamburg may not be such a great place to be today.

Now that you admit on your own that you don´t know a nut about German politics, don´t talk about things you don´t understand! I have reported you for calling me a name.

You defend Iraqi people here? Against whom I ask?

Today, it comes finally out that there were no WMD in Iraq in 2003. Great, isn´t it? That means that there was no immediate threat going out from this country and that Germany did not need your protection by invasion of Iraq. I remember you that I believed the US & UK, that I was pro-war, and that I still think that it was good to get rid of an evil regime. But don´t expect grattitude from my country for that. My government did not want that war, and it will not send troops to stabilize the country. And this is not a US-German affair, but solely a German-Iraqi affair. They don´t need you being their lawyer.

You think I sit on a high horse? This is my last post to you, so I´ll do another trial. Haven´t you and I been sitting on a high horse before and during the war towards all the sucking peaceniks? And haven´t we experienced mixed feelings when it came out that there were no WMD, and that this war was led not necessarily that early? We have, and now we don´t feel good, but we have to stick to our decision. I say "we", although I personally am not affected much, but I am a friend of the US, that´s why my heart hurts when American blood flows. My prayers went out to US soldiers - my NATO comrades - and I paid for two USO packages for the troops in Iraq. I don´t ow you anything, and I don´t need to justify myself towards you. Look at my profile or go to .... whereever.

Farewell,

Michael

So because you can't win the debate you want to run off and see if you can get me into "trouble" for calling you a spoiled ,pampered, liberal? Well that is what you are.

Go ahead and follow the UN, pray to them if you must. But they are a corrupt organization. Those would be the same folks your government hid behind as they raked in in money while Saddam was in power under the food for oil program.

BTW- as far as I am concerned Saddam was a WMD.... and you and I both know there are plenty of reports, not supported by the UN's agenda, which state there are indeed WMD in Iraq.

So you choose to align yourselves with the French- not the Americans.

I don't need to look at your profile page. I have read your words here.

Here is another example of how you are a spoiled, pampered liberal. I forgot to add Flip Flopping as well.

Try to stand by your posts and not take each side of the argument when you are losing.
