MANCHESTER, NH - Today, Bush-Cheney 04 New Hampshire Vice-Chair Bruce Keough issued the following statement regarding Senator John Kerrys town hall in Hampton, New Hampshire:
Senator Kerry came to New Hampshire today to play on the fears of our community for shear political gain. Kerrys misleading claim that there is a ban on stem cell research is completely detached from the truth. The truth is that President Bush did not ban stem cell research, but is actually the first president in history to fund stem cell research. Last year, the federal government invested $25 million in embryonic stem cell research and nearly $191 million in other stem cell research, while millions more continue to be spent on research in the private sector.
Once again, we see that John Kerry will say or do anything for what he thinks will work to his political advantage; and once again New Hampshire voters see his absurd and baseless attacks are at odds with the truth.
I would hope that this will be discussed at the town hall meeting.
Please tell me that the campaign did not release a note reading "for shear political gain"...this is a typo introduced by our friendly FR correspondent, right?
Yikes........
Kerry is calling for a war on the unborn!
Why doesn't he and the rest of the demonrats
simply stick with the straightforward method
of black witchcraft and simply eat the unborn
to acquire their extended wicked lives?
This is not science. It is butchery of humanity.
"shear political gain"
Definitely so! It's a SHEEPLE town hall meeting!
Okay, wait a minute. I saw President Bush on TV giving the speech on embryonic and adult stem cell research ages ago. To my recollection, he did indeed ban embryonic stem cell research to the extent of any NEW embryos; he allowed a limited number of existing embryos to be used, and once used, no more could be used (the ban). He spoke about respect for the unborn child, etc. He did, however, sanction ADULT stem cell research. So, am I misremembering, or did he change the policy?
Do not be a dupe of the leftists. There is no ban on any kind of stem cell research. Anyone who wants to do research using stem cells can do so. Just don't expect the government to fund you if you want to use embryonic stem cells outside the existing lines that are federally funded. You'll just have to fund yourself to do that. THERE IS NO BAN!!

I would love for somebody to stand up and ask John Kerry exactly what is a stem cell and how does research on it help cure diseases such as Alzheimer's.
