Will Dan Rather's Bad Karma Get Him?
Fox news ^ | October 4th 2004 | Roger Friedman

On Friday night, I ran into "60 Minutes" veteran Mike Wallace and his lovely wife Mary at an all-star screening of a documentary about John Kerry's Vietnam service.

Wallace confirmed for me the long-running rumor/open secret that Dan Rather has kept Walter Cronkite, his beloved predecessor, from appearing on CBS News since his retirement after 19 years on the job in 1981.

Instead of becoming an éminence grise or a Yoda for the network like the late Eric Sevareid, who appeared at the end of each of Cronkite's broadcasts with an editorial, Cronkite was sent to network Siberia.

Cronkite was forced to start his own production company, syndicating feature news shows. He's appeared all over cable, and even on CNN, but not once in 23 years — through elections, disasters and coronations — has he come back to Black Rock. CBS News simply ignored him. Other than cameo appearances on "Letterman," Cronkite was off the air for good at CBS...

The rest of the article was interesting, because ole Roger talks about screening the Kerry puffball "Up the River" piece with his pals from Hollywood and the MSM. No bias, my foot!

See? Dan Rather has served one good purpose.

"A meanie ..."

A meanie?

meanie = A malicious or petty person.

Okay ... I guess that'll do.

I was thinking of some rather different adjectives. ;)

Does anyone have an update on whether or not he is going to be prosecuted? - I thought maybe someone in Texas was going after him...

Must see documentary?

MUST FLEE is more like it.

I've lived here in John Kerry's Taxachusetts most of my life - and I've seen all of that phoney baloney I care to see. I can't imagine having to look at that plastic face and listen to that fake voice making pontifical intonations from a presidential podium.

But you're right about old Roger - BIAS lives and FOX better even up the Newsweek score today. I've emailed Brit Hume to that effect and I hope alot of other Freepers do it too!

Licorice: "Licorice reporting for duty.
Rather had some forged papers showing Cronkite was frequently sleeping with
a boy named Kenneth in 1971. Rather wanted to know, how frequently"

This guy will be expecting his Kerry paycheck any day now since it is the beginning of the month.

BTW, why is it so hard for people to afford more credence to the substance of what was said rather than the eloquence with which it was spoken. In 1971, Kerry lied to the Fulbright committee. Who cares how well he sounded when he lied and besmirched the honor and effort of our troops.
