House told to alter intelligence bill (Bush Opposes Crack Down on Illegal Immigration)
The Washington Times ^ | October 4, 2004 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 10/04/2004 7:17:15 AM PDT by Goldwater4ever

The White House has told House Republicans that it wants them to remove provisions in their intelligence-overhaul bill that would crack down on illegal aliens' obtaining drivers' licenses, allow easier deportation and limit the use of foreign consular ID cards. The Senate's bill lacks those provisions, and as the two chambers race toward trying to pass a bill before the Nov. 2 election, the measures are a potential stumbling block. The White House wants those provisions out, according to a congressional source familiar with the bill. "They have expressed desire to kill some of the immigration provisions and gut some of others," the source said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Rosemary Jenks, a lobbyist for stricter immigration controls for the group NumbersUSA , who has been tracking the bill, said White House policy officials met with Republican staffers to urge them to remove the provisions, even though White House officials initially had signed off on those same provisions before the bill was introduced officially. "The White House was involved in the negotiations before the bill was introduced, and now, for some reason, it has come back and decided to insist that the main provisions, the most effective provisions of the bill, be gutted," she said. She said House Republican leaders appear to be standing firm in refusing the White House demands. A White House spokesman did not return a call for comment yesterday. ***

"This goes to the very heart of the entire conspiracy of 9/11," he said. "These people entered the country, got driver's licenses, used those driver's licenses to obtain the services they needed, and then used those driver's licenses to get on the plane."

I know how you feel. I am heart broken. I thought BUSH would try. Even if he doesn't suceed, but trys to do what is right for America, I'd vote for him. But to do such an underhanded thing is didpicable.

Could we be the victim of deception by the MSM, Ducks Unlimited, the DegenRATS? Sure, but when you couple this crap with ORIN HATCH and his DREAM bill, it looks real to me.

What is a true conservative to do, you ask? Sit out the election, teach the Reps a lesson and in 4 years we get some real men, like Guiliani, McCain or JEB BUSH.

If I vote for BUSH, I loose! If KERRY gets in, we will be upset, but he flip f;ops and is so WRONG, the DEMS will be out of power for 50 years!

I guess I had rather be an "unappeasable" than a party hack that does nothing other than repeat party line. If building larger government by means of expanded government benefits (prescription plan, education spending Kennedy style, ignoring immigration problems and national security) is your idea of the Republican Party then you can have it.

So the point is "XXXXXXXX" is a political hack doing nothing more than parroting party line? Get real, the Republican Party has been hijacked by a bunch of RINO's just as the democrat party has been hijacked by the liberals. Neither party represents the American majority. It's all about political power, not representation of the people.

Mom, I love ya, and I'm voting for Bush. But he's wrong on the illegal issue. You say the borders have been tightened...yes, more money has been spent, but they're arriving in record numbers and our government will not fine employers who hire them. Bush is wrong on this one and if the dems seize on this, he's going to lose.

I think both Bush's have a renegade gene in their family tree that leaves them predisposed to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Whose White House is this anyway?

It's the White House of the Cheap Labor Lobby, Fortune 500, Mexico, China, India, Japan, and just about everyone (if the price is right) EXCEPT the American People.

With Pres Bush things changed on 9-11 and the borders are being tightened.

Are aware of the terms of the Social Security Totalization Agreement with Mexico?

Please explain how giving millions of former, current and future Mexican illegal aliens access to our Social Security system tightened the border?

bye bye Bush.

That cheap labor/wage suppression campaign money must be just too tasty.

All Kerry has to do now is one insincere statement he'll protect the borders.

"summons the nitwits, and who is first on the scene"

Which is it gonna be on these threads, are we going to name call or is it going to be stopped? This is getting beyond old. The people of this country, including legal immigrants overwhelmingly want this invasion stopped or at least not ignored. They want the laws inforced, like hiring illegals and paying them less than the law requires.

If this thing gets legs in the press I would agree.

Ohio will not tolerate any more pandering to the illegals. They are a major problem here and are viewed universally by members of both sides as such.

I will be voting for President Bush on Nov 2nd. But I will be holding my nose over his...

Well, then congratulations because you'll be voting for giving all those millions of former, current and future Mexican illegal aliens access to our Social Security system.

p.s. Bush signed this agreement on June 29, 2004, so it's already a done deal. Voting for him now will make no difference. He's giving your money to illegals and you're going to vote for Bush no matter what he does, right?

If you don't like the smell now, just wait until after he's reelected.
