But, WHY Lehrer in the first place? Surely Pres. Bush and the people around him understand PBS is NOT on his side? If they don't we're in more trouble than I thought.

Bob Schieffer was original going to be the moderator of this first debate in Foreign policy... but got he got switched out for Lehrer at the last minute...Schieffer was not even told but found out by reading the paper ...Lehrer is about as hard core left as you get....Bill Clinton and the Democrats have refer to Jim Leher as “Our Moderator”why the switch at the last min.... was it that Leher was willing put in the fix? while Schiffer wouldn't?
As to your question why the Republican let this happen?... well they don't call them the "stupid party" vs the "evil party" for nothing... Republican just have a habit of letting up and playing nice...the avg. Republican just doesn't get the Dem mind set.. I do. (I got some union Dem family)... to them it's not their civic duty to vote...it their civic duty to stuff a ballot box... its the civic duty to cheat to win ... if a true believer Dem had an opportunely to cheat to win and DIDN'T..then they would be ashamed

Funny last week I posted on this board for us not to get cocky because dem are dem they WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO WIN you can never relax.... and all I got was "lighten up"... well maybe some here will wake up... we are in good shape but we have to fight till the end you can never take you eye of them...
