I heard they were both allowed to have pen and paper for note taking.

Was there a prohibition on taking notes during the debate? This could have been a blank piece of paper for that purpose.

too dark
I wonder if this will get anywhere, seems his refusal to sign the form 180 releasing his military records has gone unnoticed.....yet they scream, hollar and stamp their feet until the president found his papers.....

doesn't matter if it were a pen or not, the rules said they were to bring nothing and pens and paper would be provided if requested. But I agree, it is not a pen

I do digital forensics work. My forensic video gear is state of the art. If someone can furnish me with a clean high-res clip of the event, I'll take a look.

Could have been a snot rag or a pack of tissues. At least that's what it looked like to me.

Unless there's a clearer rendering of this somewhere ("upon further review"), I'm almost prepared to let this one drop.

Never mind, apparently they weren't allowed.

This from Drudge:

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

Drudge: DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Of course we all know that RATS don't play by the rules anyway.

Ok, so its paper and the rules are such that paper and pens could be placed before the "debate", what does it mean Kerry knew the questions before? had answers of the "might be asked questions"? he cheated? ...would the democrats cares? the undecided care?
What does it really mean? Will it be a smoking gun? I don't think so, I doesn't seem to matter that he has lied about his experience in Viet Nam and that he would turn the security of the USA over to veto's by the UN. ie global test

I had heard that by the rules of the debate, each participant could have a pen and blank paper, pre-approved by the debate committee. W was taking notes during the debate, checking off items as he addressed them. Unless sKerry had paper other than that approved by the debate rules committee, he didn't violate the rules of the debate, as I recall hearing/reading about them.

He's obviously reading what he took out of his pocket, so I don't think it's a pen.

Kerry is the rankest, most arrogant opportunist to run for President in a long, long, time and he and the DNC will stop at nothing to lie and cheat their way into ofice:

a) Kerry's initial ampaign burglarized his oppenent's campaign office;

b)As Weld reported, Kerry is a good "closer" because he waits until the last minute to attack his opponent with ad hominem lies and slanders where the opponent does not have enough time to respond (he called Weld a "chicken hawk" over Vietnam, although Weld was 16 at the time US troops were withdrawn).

c)Kerry's campaign has coordinated illegally with MoveOn.org and other left-wing or Democrat 527's from the beginning (and gotten a pass from the MSM, of course)

d)the better Kerry thinks he is doing in the polls, the more savage and lying he and the DNC will become (witness the new "Bush is a liar" ad).

e)there is a massive "fraud out the vote" campaign being coordinated with the DNC and shadowy left-wing org's like ACORN across battleground states like Ohio, Florida, and Nevada

I can only hope his arrogance will be his undoing.

Can someone with technical expertise blow up the picture, and refine it a la CSI so we can see what he took out? Anyone who can do this and show Kerry cheatecd can eclipse Buckhead as the Freeper of the year.

I know some freepers or DU Trolls are talking this down, but I believe this is huge. Just look what happened to CBS. If this story gets traction it will spell doom for Kerry because GWB will attack. I can hear is now on the Campaign stump.

" What documents did Sandy Burger stuff down his Pants? What documents did The senator use in our last debate?"

And I can see W walking out to the next two debates with his hands in the air mocking kerry and then W. asking"what did you pull out of your pocket Senator? How can the American people trust you when you can't even follow the rules of our debates?"

Everyone should call and write news stations to alert them about this, also talk radio would be a good idea.
