We held our second "Sanctity of Marriage" Rally today, and it was another tremendous success! We exceeded our turnout number estimates, and overall had a much stronger rally than the one we held in June of this year.
A wide-shot of the crowd, from the back:

From the other side:
I'm pleased to say that despite one lone 'gay' protestor, the event was incident-free. The "Lone Gunman" blended into the crowd, waited for an opportune moment, shouted an obscenity, then took off. Kind of a sad attempt, but more of an annoyance than a "counter-protest".
The event was emceed by Brian Brown - Executive Director of the Connecticut Family Institute:
Our keynote speaker was Peter Sprigg, Sr. Director of the Family Research Council, and author of "Outrage".
Musical praise was once again graciously provided by the Christian band - "Sing for Him":
Pastor Black (speaking) gave the Invocation and Benediction. Surrounding him are the 14 pastors in attendance, representing the congregations of 12 area churches. These pastors are vital to our movement, as they're the ones preaching the importance of preserving the sanctity of marriage to their congregations, regardless of what persecution they may face:

A fantastic event - fun was had by all! We now focus on our next initiative - the establishment of a Rhode Island Family Policy Council. It'll make for a busy fall and winter! Keep the prayers coming!

Keep up the good work!
It's worthy to note that I had been personally contacting local media outlets - local affiliates of ABC, CBS, and NBC. Only the CBS affiliate showed up.
Apparently "our side" of the issue isn't something that the weekend editors they deem newsworthy.
Who was the lone gayman, David Cicciline or Gordon Fox?
BUMP!
What's so hard for these alternative lifestylers to understand?
It's meant to be Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.
Bump and thanks for the ping.
Great pictures. Just think - probably each attendee, and many of the passers by, and those who read or hear of the rally, and friends of all of the above, will be more pro-marriage due to your efforts. And then they'll influence their friends, their relatives, and then... etc.
You are a great example of what MORE of us should be doing.

For anyone else that wants to make a stand ...
Marriage is under attack in the courts and by legislation. Your help is desperately needed to save it. Please go to www.abolishgaymarriage.org and sign the petition that is being used to fight at the federal, state, and local levels of government.
The other good news is, for all the people in attendance, I had received nearly a hundred more phone calls and e-mails from people wishing to be there, but couldn't.
Remember I had mentioned to you our financial struggle, and how discouraging it was? Well, no more than two weeks after I had e-mailed you, we started receiving a lot more response and support. All told, we raised $2,800 in about 5 weeks' time. That enabled us to run 50 radio spots on the local Christian radio network, which drummed up a lot of last-minute support.
The greatest part of all of this is that it "puts us on the map" towards creating the RI Family Policy Council. We have the articles of incorporation set, we just need to get a Board of Directors together, and get some serious financial backing from larger institutions and businessmen - people that can commit to $5,000/year in donations on a regular basis.
We're getting a lot of direction and advice from groups like Focus on the Family, Family Research Council, and the Mass and Connecticut Family institutes. Soon, RI will be able to join their ranks - something not only desperately needed at this time, but something that's never had a voice in this state before.
"Is it true today
that when people stand
with the Fire of God
and the Truth in hand,
we'll see miracles?
We'll see angels sing?
We'll see broken hearts
making history?"

I am so sorry... I noticed a ping from you from way back, requesting that I ping my lists for this rally. Unfortunately I found it too late (I get so many pings). Please FReepmail me next time you'd like me to ping my lists... I rarely miss a FReepmail message. I'll be more than happy to help you out. :-)
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Rhode Island ping list.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent miscellaneous ping list.
Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.
Great Job, thanks.
Most excellent. Thank you for posting your report & great pix.
Your work is good.
