I thought that you were an enquiring canine.
Sleeper trolls.
Hi Meekie!
Oh! That wasn't even the worst of it.
It was pathetic. They sounded worse than a live crab getting ready to steam.
I agree with you..
yes only positive reviews, please folks..
Bush lost tactically, but one in strategery....He's to damn nice of a guy...He could have ripped Kerry a new one, several times... but didn't...
I was very disappointed with our guy last night, though..He was not on his game.
Our man is a doer.. not a talker...
Here's the deal, Bush lost the debate but Kerry lost big time in the "opening up new cans of worms" area. Bush didn't say anything we didn't already know about him. On the other hand, Kerry has to explain:
1)Global test
2) nuclear fuel to Iran
3) cutting off bunker buster development
4) lack of a Iraq "plan" outline - he seems to have the same plan as Bush, just that he would do it better
5) unilateral talks with North Korea
Kerry has plenty of 'splaining to do. Bush doesn't.
Kerry's problem in all of this is that 98% of his platform is whining, bitching, and crying at things that he claims Bush did wrong. He's like a child in this regard.
He has no core, no root system of beliefs, and when he tries to establish one there are example after example in his past history as to why no one should believe him.
Bush would have to come across as an absolute buffoon in order to lose one of these "debates" but that's not gonna happpen b/c he's the sitting president. He may not come across as the quickest person in figuring out what he's going to say, but he clearly is thinking before blurting out an answer which, in the world of politics, can almost be viewed as refreshing.
Kerry's a floundering fool and if he'd given as much thought in advance to his voting record, on the notion that he knew he wanted to be president, as he did to his videography of his brief couple of months in Vietnam, then he'd be much better poised to take the White House.
As it stands, on the major issues, he can't even take a position with any credibility. Not one. How can someone like that become president let alone win a debate.
If Kerry couldn't win outright yesterday, then he never will be able to. On substance I thought Bush came out ahead easily, particularly since Kerry's "substance" was often completely false and baseless and if not that, then contradictory.
But as we all know, many people, often the "undecideds" don't judge debates on content. That's why they're undecided. They judge it on perceptions and the more superficial things which Kerry clearly did a better job of. In that light, if Kerry couldn't capitalize on that, then he never will.
It's Friday.
I disagree.
Although, you're right that Kerry has a lot of explaining to do.
And all those freaking remarks adding in the French really drove me nuts. It made me want to find the first French person I could find and slap them silly.
Charles DeGaulle? Hello? NOBODY GIVES A RIP WHAT ANY PRESIDENT OF FRANCE HAS EVER SAID!
Bush won because Kerry didn't get much traction. Bush had the substance, that's what wins among voters.
Bush set skerry up in such away.....most folks missed it totally. I can't believe the hand wagging taking place at FR!!!
It's because each of us (me included) truly wants to thump Kerry. We want to question him, slap him down... or have him tried for war crimes. So we want our guy to beat him up. Pitch him out of the ring. And we wish Dubya would have done it, and we're dissapointed that it didn't happen. But I'm not sure that's how a campaign is won in this day and age.
That's about the way I see it this morning. Frankly, last night I was quite disappointed by Bush's performance and reluctantly impressed by Kerry's. Upon further thought this morning I think I was expecting too much from Bush and too little from Kerry. Whatever his faults are, and they are manifold, Kerry is a skilled debater and gave a polished performance last night. My thinking this morning is that it was pretty close to a draw. But if either one had an edge it was Kerry, although by a very, very slim margin.
My primary disappointment in Bush was that he seemed hesitant and unsure of himself some of the time. It was almost painful at times to see him searching for the right words and phrases to counter Kerry's lies and false accusations. My wife was a nervous wreck during those times when Bush was silent for what seemed like minutes, but were actually only seconds, while he pondered his answer.
It appeared to me that Kerry had rehearsed his answers to the questions in advance, and that Bush was having to answer off the top of his head to questions he was not fully prepped for. I can't help but wonder if it's possible that Kerry had somehow been shown the questions in advance. Since it was an ultra-liberal PBS slug who moderated the debate, I think any kind of underhanded chicanery is possible. Hopefully the next debate will be handled with total neutrality by whoever is in charge of these things.
Man! What knuckleheads ! :^OWe could boil them in oil!
I too wish Bush would have knocked skerry out of the park. What would you suggest he have done any different? Call skerry a liar to his face? I think our President....did a brilliant job last night. HE HAD SUBSTANCE....this was NOT a high school debate!!! skerry may have had a eastern elite style....but our President had that down home way that speaks volumes....he is just like you and me!!! He is so Texas I just love it!!! ;o)
Some one said about Bush.......Something's going to happen tonight that's going to trigger him "Why am I here? I shouldn't have to put up with this! I'm more effective than this," or whatever. He's going to look sullen, sunken, may slouch a bit. He's got a much tougher row to hoe because he's got to act like somebody he isn't, because if he acts like the person he is then that really gets to the bottom line. More than what anybody says tonight, is what they look like and how they appear in any number of ways.
No really... I think we agree. We'd like to see Kerry knocked out of the park... but that's not necessairly how you win an election.
I'm not sure that's right anymore. It was in Kennedy vs Nixon. But I think what people will remember from this debate, what resonated... is "you can't lead our troops in the war, if you think it is the wrong war at the wrong time. You can't get foriegn leaders behind it if you think it is the wrong war". I that statement is what sticks in most peoples mind.
