Kerry campaign manager trying to influence "debate spin" via mass mailings
email from the Kerry campaign | 9/30/2004 | Mary Beth Cahill, Kerry-Edwards 2004

Posted on 09/30/2004 9:00:05 PM PDT by thoughtomator

I signed up to the Dems' debate mailing list for some 'opposition research'. I signed up as "Abu Abbas" (Yasser Arafat's nom de guerre) for kicks. Here's the post-debate mailing they sent, hot off the presses:

From: "Media Corps, Kerry-Edwards 2004" <info@johnkerry.com>

Subject: John Kerry won the debate

Kerry-Edwards 2004

Dear Abu,

John Kerry won tonight's debate on foreign policy, and we need you to make sure the media reports this right.

Jump into the post-debate debate and keep the record straight.

America saw John Kerry as our next President tonight. Bush had a record of failure to defend, and he failed to defend it. Bush refused to take responsibility for his go it alone rush to war. Bush had no plan, no clue for ending the chaos. Bush can't fix the mess in Iraq because he pretends things are fine. Pretending is no substitute for planning.

Your assignment: Immediately e-mail and call all the major networks and programs listed below saying that John Kerry won the debate. The Republicans are going to do everything possible to spin the debate in their favor. We need you on the offensive.

Everything you need is in this e-mail, including contact information for the major news networks and programs.

Here are some things to emphasize:

  • America saw John Kerry as our next President tonight.

  • Kerry showed strength, conviction, and a steady command of the facts.

  • Kerry left no doubt he can lead the fight to hunt and kill the terrorists.

  • Kerry offered hope for a fresh start in Iraq so we can finish the job. Kerry has specific plans: Bush had shallow promises.

Here is a phone/e-mail list for the major news networks. Commentators like Larry King, Chris Matthews, Sean Hannity, and Alan Colmes are on TV right now offering their view of the debate results. Hosts of network news shows on ABC, CBS, and NBC are also busy offering their reviews. Hosts of tomorrow's morning shows, Good Morning America, The Today Show, and American Morning, are sure to do the same beginning at 7:00 a.m. EST tomorrow morning. Don't let your voice be cut out.

I hate to be pedantic--well, actually, I love to be pedantic.

Abu Abbas and Yasser Arafat are different people. Arafat's terrorist nickname is Abu Amar.

Bush can't fix the mess in Iraq...

Whoa; the "mess in Iraq?" Do they mean the war? I'll bet the troops would love to read that.

Oh heck, they should all be Abu Porkrinds... one terrorist is just as good as another, as long as he's dead.

Copy & paste this to all the news groups above!

Kerry' s lies were well rehearsed, I saw a product trying to be packaged & sold to us, just like Clinton was. He had no substative plan, he talked the talk, but had no definitive means to make his plans come to fruition. He is a mouth, with speech writers words in it.

No kidding. If it's a mess then I'm sure Kerry isn't going to want to clear it up.

BTW, there is a lot of spinning going on tonight. My money's on Bush. Kerry is a jerk and dangerous as a potential president. Support Bush tonight. (Hi, Howlin ... not directed at you ... just everybody).

"Abu Abbas and Yasser Arafat are different people. Arafat's terrorist nickname is Abu Amar."

Thanks for posting the info link regarding Amar. Never saw pictures of Arafat as a younger man.

Now I know why he wears that kitchen tablecloth on his head all the time: he went bald prematurely.

Man, he musta been a cueball by the time he was 40!

Here's what I'm sending to those addresses.

I was so dissappointed in John Kerry's constant lies during the debate tonight.
I'm planning to switch over and vote for Pres. Bush after tonight's debate.
Kerry is so negative, he makes this country sound like we have no hope left and all is lost.
I also didn't like his remark about needing a "GLOBAL TEST" before defending this country.

John Kerry sure lost my vote and I'm telling all who will listen about it.
