I had to work tonight, but was able to listen to most of it on the radio. Sadly, I called my husband several times to ask how the candidates looked because Bush sounded very hesitant, timid and defensive. I realize that everything out of Kerry's mouth was a lie, but the average 'undecided' (that's why thy're still undecided)voter doesn't, and they probably saw an energized Kerry and a tired, defensive Bush and will make their decision accordingly. Yikes! My husband did tape it, so maybe it will be different to see it, but honestly I don't know if I can bring myself to sit through it again. What just happened here tonight? My husband got the feeling that he was so exasperated by the sheer volume of Kerry's lies that each time he answered, he honestly didn't know where to start. Let's hope other's feel the same.

I think he was overwhelmed with exasperation, not expecting all of the lies. He wasn't speaking to the base tonight, we have to remember that.

It wasn't that bad, usmom. Some of the other Freepers are blowing things way outta proportion. They were expecting Bush to win the election tonight, apparently, forgetting that we still got more than a month to go. We need to conserve our ammo. Also, let me remind everybody, in 2000 there was lot of hand-wringing going on after the Bush-Gore debates. "Did Gore win? Oh no, Gore won didn't he! Excuse me while I put my head in the oven!" The funny thing is, all this week I've been seeing clips from those debates and their hilarious. Gore was such a child: rolling his eyes, SIGHING loudly, sweating profusely. Yet, we feared that this goober out-debated Bush. Same thing tonight. We saw a genuine human being talking to a manicured robot.

I agree with your assement. I think Bush's political advisors are killing him, just like they killed Reagan. Notice he did his best when he was talking about his daughters and talking 'off-cue'. He needs to speak from his heart and stop over analyzing all this stuff and wearing this leash that his advisors put on him to stop him from 'screwing up'. Damn I felt like I could have done better out there..... 'course it is easy to monday morning quarterback.

Here is one of his lies....just pulled this off of Drudge after a considerable wait:

FLASH: Kerry stated: 'That's why they had to close down the subway in New York when the Republican Convention was there.' (Driving home point that Bush as not done enough to protect the country.)

The NYC subway did not close at all during the convention, according to a report on cable outlet NY1, even though Penn station was shut for several hours...
