WASHINGTON The Republican-controlled House emphatically defeated a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage Thursday, the latest in a string of conservative pet causes pushed to a vote by GOP leaders in the run-up to Election Day (search).

227 in favor versus 186 against is not an EMPHATIC defeat.
What RINOs voted against it? Names, please.
Re: barney "hot bottom" frank's statement.. yea barney we know how & where you feel it differently.
A gay marriage ban amendment will never pass UNLESS the Supreme Court decides to rule the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional and that states have to recognize gay marriages in other states.
Who cares??? IT'S OVER!!!
As far as I'm concerned, some of them are Democrats who simply have an (R) by their name. And we're going to keep getting the shaft from those pukes as long as we keep electing RINOs.

Thanks to MA, that might happen sooner than you think.
We need 290 votes to get a constitutional amendment passed. It is impossible to pass a constitutional amendment at at least a third of the DemocRATS voting for it.
No, its not over. We now have a record of where each congressman stands on this issue. That was the purpose of the vote.
I see that Dreier voted "Nay". I guess the radical homosexuals outing him scared him into submission.
They're all on record now.
The battle will continue.
I bet a geocoded map of the results would tell an interesting tale.
That's exactly right. We now have a record of where they stand on gay marriage. We can go after those in favor of gay marriage with a vengeance in the general election.
Go Kobach!
funnies vote of all came from Democrat Nick RAHALL.....HE IS TRYING TO SAVE HIS JOB BADLY....after being caught giving money to muslim charities that were busted with terroriet ties....he actually joined Delay in the vote. THIS SHOWS HE IS REALLY REALLY WORRIED....Especially when Rockefellor voted the opposite in the senate.
I used to respect that guy...
Morons like Christopher Cox voted against it. He's buying half the gay activist line. He's living in denial.
