~ MILITARY SHORT SPEAK ~
ArmyPatch small   NavySeal small   Air Force Seal   Marines Seal small   Coast Guard Seal small (better)

The military seems to have a language of its own, with many terms, acronyms, initialisms and abbreviations that aren't generally used in the "civilian world."

What is an acronym? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words. It is spoken as one word.

What is an initialism? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words, but each letter is spoken separately.

What is an abbreviation? It is a shortened version of a word.

What is Short Speak? It is any and all of the above.

Want to know what  they are talking about?  Read on...

M, part 4

Moonbeam  Flashlight

MOPP  Mission-Oriented Protective Posture

MRAAM  Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile

MRCA  Multi-role combat aircraft [the Panavia Tornado]

MULE

Designated an M274 and used around the Vietnam period it was little more than a platform on wheels, with a two-cylinder opposed Tecumseh engine started with a pull-cord just like a power lawn mower.  It has four-wheel drive and steering and could be driven by a Gyrene lying prone for a low profile.  And it could carry, literally, a ton of supplies of be mounted with M60 mortars, small cannon or the 105mm recoilless rifle.  The mule was retired due to the faulty design of the tires and the lack of proper protection for the driver.

Mustang  A commissioned officer who served previously as an enlisted person

You're welcome and I will!! But if we don't get that crib up soon he's gonna be sleeping in a drawer somewhere! LOL!! Trying to get the girls room finished so we can reorganize the nursey has been like pulling teeth, watching grass grow, waiting for molasses -- you pick the euphemism and it fits! LOL!!
