President Bush's top political advisor Karl Rove said Wednesday that the Bush Cheney campaign is planning some October "surprises" for challengers John Kerry and John Edwards.
"We've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring," Rove told ABC radio host Sean Hannity, while explaining that he intends to wage an aggressive campaign no matter what the polls show.
"It's 34 days [till the election] and that's a long time in politics and when you get complacent you lose," the top White House advisor said.
"We've got to stay on the offense. We've got to continue to press the battle onto the turf that they won in 2000: the Pennsylvanias, the Michigans and the Wisconsins and Iowas and Minnesotas and New Mexicos and Oregons.
"And we've got to make sure that we lose none of the close states that we won in 2000 - Florida or Ohio or Colorado or Nevada or New Hampshire.
"And you've also got to have a couple of surprises - and we've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring."
Asked if he expected the Kerry Edwards campaign to engage in dirty tricks, Rove cited Democrat claims in recent days about a secret Bush plan to reinstitute the draft.
"This is all bunk. It is a sign of the desperate straits they find themselves in and their willingness to discard the truth and say anything they think that will get them a vote," he said.
Even if he doesn't have a surprise in the wings, you can bet Kerry and Co. will be sweating it out.
He's been history for awhile.
Yes, he is...by leaking this laugher, he's gonna have Kerry looking like Barney Fife for the first debate tomorrow.
A fly on the wall over at Kerry headquarters heard them all peeing in their pants.
I agree. Lee Atwater's death was a great loss. Without him to help shape the campaign and define the issues, Clinton got in...for eight long years.
A good carpenter retires his hammer in favor of a sharp, precise saw.
maybe there is a tape of Teresa in a compromising position....
I read a news item quoted yesterday on one the blogs (can't remember which one) that indicated Kerry was not a very successful prosecutor. Perhaps someone has reviewed some of his old cases and found something similar to Willie Horton? Don't know. There were no details.
"the Pennsylvanias, the Michigans and the Wisconsins and Iowas and Minnesotas and New Mexicos and Oregons. "
Oh drats!! How darn many are there of these battlegrounds??
"Goody! :) The DUmmies think Rove is Satan, anyway. This will make their heads explode."
If he is Satan, our good and "simple" Dubya is playing him well!
That's only part of it. It is something hugely, enormous and Kerry knows what it is. Late exposure for tremendous maximum effect. Even all the Democrats will be out of mind for a while.
Shock and Awe BABE
Just the threat of this will make the Kerry team sweat! LOL
Who's got the popcorn :0)
>>>>"This will make their heads explode">>>> We will be watching!
Maybe we've uncovered stockpiles of anthrax, sarin gas, and mustard gas --- all stored underground in Iraq in missiles stamped "TelAviv, New York, Washington or bust"
Or maybe there really IS a videotape of Kerry lighting fire to an American flag while peeing on the stars and stripes.
Or maybe .....
Yeah, that's my first impression. There may not be any surprises. It's only important that the dems think there is, especially the day before the debate. We'll see if the orange holds up under flop sweat.
Voting fraud can only work successfully if the vote is close. If the tally is something like 60-30-10 Bush ( . . . ahem . . . as I have been prediciting), they couldn't work fast enough to juggle the machines, votes, ballots, chads, whatever, the other way.
Heard it on radio today. The caller (supposedly an eye-witness) said Kerry was in uniform at the time. He is going to see if the Swifties can corroborate that.
I heard the caller too. I mistakenly said he was an eyewitness of my previous post. Meant to say he saw the film.
