FACTS AND SPECIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS: Lt. Bush is an exceptionally fine young officer and pilot. After completing the F-102 all weather interceptor school in November 1969, he came to this unit as a highly qualified fighter interceptor pilot. Lt. Bush possesses sound judgment and is mature beyond his age and experience level. During the last weapons firing deployment, he delivered both primary and secondary weapons from the F-102. Lt. Bush performed in an outstanding manner following the test project requirements set forth. He also participated in a practice element deployment during annual field training. He was easily able to handle intercepts with varying geometries and tactics solutions. He exceptionally flies intercept missions with the unit to increase his proficiency even further. Lt. Bush is a natural leader but he is also a good follower of military discipline. Lt. Bush has outstanding growth potential and should be promoted well ahead of his contemporaries. STRENGTHS: Lt. Bushs main strengths are his eagerness to participate in the unit activities and his ability to work harmoniously with others. SUGGESTED ASSIGNMENTS: At the present time Lt. Bush should continue to serve as a squadron pilot. This will enable him to gain valuable knowledge of the Air National Guards role in the defense of this country and experience as a pilot. SELF IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS: Lt. Bush makes an effort to learn more about the all weather interceptors mission and capability by attending squadron briefings and studying available material in his spare time. OTHER COMMENTS: Lt. Bush is employed by Statford of Texas. He is on the managerial staff of this diversified company and tells the story of the Air National Guard and the USAF to the public at every opportunity. Since completing pilot training in November 1969 and F-102 all weather school in June 1970, he has made a concentrated effort to improve proficiency as a pilot. He is a member of the National Guard Association of the United States and Texas.

Lt. Bush has not been observed at this point unit during the period of report. A civilian occupation made it necessary for him to move to Montgomery, Alabama. He cleared this base on 15 May 1972 and has been performing equivalent training in a non flying status with the 187 Tac Recon Gp. Dannelly ANG Base, Alabama.

No matter how many times President Bushs Guard service is proved to be honorable the MSM will not report it correctly.
Great report for President Bush. Being a pilot, I can appreciate the high rating given the President. Flying a fighter jet is an accomplishment that many students fail. Flying is no easy task. We should be proud of his accomplishments. We have a REAL President.
It really cuts into the derogatory portrayal of Bush by Democrats and the Liberal Media.
... so obviously everyone knew he was moving into a non-flying position outside of Texas.
And it is safe to say that the report would not have been as complimentary if they were ticked off at him for leaving!!
Mike
"has been performing equivalent training in a non flying status with the 187 Tac Recon Gp. Dannelly ANG Base, Alabama"
WHOOOOO HOOOOOO!! There is the statement I have been looking for "a non flying status .. Alabama". The reason for the non flying status was not because he didn't take the physical exam (and was disqualified), it was because the AF had phased out the F-102 .. and there weren't any aircraft in Alabama.
This is why THE PRESIDENT WAS NOT REQUIRED TO TAKE A PHYSICAL - HE WASN'T FLYING!!
Take that! you mindless robot democrats who keep saying our President REFUSED A DIRECT ORDER.
But .. here's an even more interesting piece of information .. on page 75 of "Unfit for Command", it seems that a Captain Plumly WROTE A REPORT to Admiral Hoffman, stating: "Kerry simply would NOT obey orders". Does anybody find that information as interesting as I do ..??
Lt. Bush has outstanding growth potential and should be promoted well ahead of his contemporaries.
All the other crap is superfluous until this line. The recommendation for promotion is necessary not to end a career. Promotion ahead of his contemporaries is above and beyond acceptable.
Absolutely...one wonders why the media...having access to these documents...wouldn't have bothered noting it.
....Also note the second eval doesn't contain this language, but was at the end of his flying and ANG career.
When a USAF OER says that, bank on it.
What's your take on the second one? Seems pretty neutral, I'd guess they knew he wasn't a career officer by that point, and therefore was passed over. Either that, or it was a good second year eval.
I disagree...the second one seems pretty positive and there seems to be notable praise in both.
They all do, it's almost like a form letter. You could have your career killed by a sickeningly sweet eval if it lacks the recomendation for promotion.
I know the site is unavailable for the time being, but give it about another 30 minutes and it should be back up. These documents weren't in letter form. I just took the comments, but you can view the document in (.jpg) form.

I figure that combat pilots were coming back from Vietnam, the 102 was obsolete, and everyone knew that the flying slots were going to go to active duty guys with combat experience.
