As part of his 100 day plan to change America, John Kerry will propose a comprehensive service plan that includes requiring mandatory service for high school students And to think the Dems are getting after Bush with bogus allegations about a draft...

Really? Kinda deflates the "Bush is gonna draft ya" rumor.
To: dirtboy
Wonder how THAT'S gonna go over!
To: hipaatwo
Don't worry. He'll change his mind tomorrow.

hm. You feel a draft in here?Hmmmnnnn... Just got a little chill. Servitude? I think not! Especially when the "public service" revolves around some form of socialist function.

Does this mean cleaning up highways for two years or volunteering at Planned Parenthood for two years?

Actually that's pretty good effin' idea from John Effin' Kerry.
Also, does national service mean the military? Nope. Could the country benefit from trading the exhorbitant cost of college tuition for an ROI in government service - during a time of national crisis mind you - from young adults who have proven themselves disciplined enough to get through a four-year degree program? You bet. Will the funding of tuition be tied to performance (GPA > 3.5)? I should think so. Do I sound like Donald Rumsfeld? Heavens to Betsy, yes.

See the link to the Kerry website at the bottom of the article. I just checked it and the quote's accurate.

LOL - I can almost picture Rummy saying your exact words!
To: hipaatwo
Is this a joke? We don't have the Kennedy peace Corps flavor going here, so it sounds like a draft. Almost seems like Kerry is throwing the election, not that he would win anyway.

I read all of the points of his program on the website and it scares the hell out of me. I sounds just like a perfect beginning of a communist state. As a matter of fact in one of the planks of the plan he actually calls out for neighborhood BLOCK CAPTAINS!!!!!!!!
Gee, I wonder what party affiliation they will have?

Perhaps I don't understand, but who pays for these kids tuition?

Neighborhood block captains are right out of Cuba.
