BAQOUBA, Iraq In that quiet place between midnight and sunrise, four American soldiers set out into the darkness, swathed in burlap camouflage as they creep through a field pockmarked with gopher holes. The prey they stalk is insurgents who use rocket-propelled grenades to fire at U.S. troops. Just before the sky turns blue, they will creep back to their Humvees, rejoining the scout platoon that shadowed them, another day's work complete. Vigilance at this outpost in the Sunni Triangle never ends. Humvees on pre-dawn patrols have been attacked with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) more than once as they passed this spot. Though no one has been hurt, commanders are eager to put a stop to the attacks.

I read this article this morning - very good. However, I kept looking for an instance of an actual kill from one of the snipers, and there were none.
One shot one kill and another muxlimb lies still. Ok muzlimbs where is your allah now!!! Visions of 72 camels butts dance in their hashish heads. US Army SRT Sniper retired. Bush/Cheney 2004

A customer of mine is the proud father of a Seal who was/is in Iraq. For a short time he was in Baghdad, and nearly every night their camp came under sniper fire. The Seal offered to stand watch. After a while he saw a muzzle flash and in one shot took out the sniper. AT 1136 YARDS! How cool is that!
Scouts Out and Snipers UP! HOOOAAA!
That's a Marine thing. US Army Sniper: "You can run, but you'll only die tired."
Beautiful.
Long distance, the next best thing to being there.
The writer inplies the Iraqi police are being uncooperative, but given what these snipers' potential targets were actually up to, perhaps it was more a matter of lack of effective communication. Its a difficult situation our guys are in.
Don't forget, "Reach out and touch someone"!
I have a heavy barreled 300 winmag I use to hunt in West Tx. Shots can be over 500 yard alot. The rifle is called Ma Bell. Because It will reach out and touch someone.
