Is it me, or have the feminists in this country completely gone off their rockers?
Jane Fonda was recently in New York at a star-studded event designed to increase voter registration for women. The occasion? The "Vaginas Vote, Chicks Rock" gala at the Apollo Theater, which was billed as "a night of entertainment and political empowerment."
Are you kidding? "Vaginas vote"?
First off, how messy would that be? We'd definitely have to have male and female lines at the polls. And if the wait were anything like the one for the women's restrooms at any ballpark in America, that alone would drive down voter turnout.
But do we really want to have young women thinking they should vote because they have vaginas? I thought the feminists were about empowering women's intellect, not identifying themselves by the genitals.
In the late '70s, my mother gave me a book to read titled "Take Back the Night: Women on Pornography." It was a collection of essays written by feminists about the harmful effects the pornography industry, including the segment that purveys soft-core porn, has on women. In it, one of the authors argued that it is difficult for a man who keeps a Playboy magazine in his desk to see a female co-worker or employee as a capable, intelligent being.
But how on earth are we helping young women see themselves as intellectual equals to the men on their college campuses and in their offices if we are putting T-shirts on them that read, "Vaginas Vote" or "Value Your Vagina." Aren't we just giving men who want to focus on women's breasts and genitals, instead of their brains, a free pass? It's mind-boggling stupidity.

Hunh?!?!?! What's this bit of sanity doing on sfgate?
LOL!!
"First off, how messy would that be? We'd definitely have to have male and female lines at the polls"
I don't think mentioning 'polls'is helpful here.
"not identifying themselves by the genitals"
This is actually how I've always thought of Jane Fonda.
Fonda is just plain vermin. She may have become "born again" but she ain't walkin' the talk. Too bad she will miss a lot out later.
Didn't read the whole thing. Was there any mention of pregnant chads in there anywhere?
I was at a family wedding this weekend and heard my cousin say you had to have a vagina to vote for GWB - I was a little perplexed. He is an unemployed auto worker and was drunk - so I didn't engage him in conversation.
The left becomes more crazed with every passing day. Do they actually believe we could trust our country to them? Not one Republican who is capable of walking or crawing has a valid excuse for not voting this time. Our country is depending on us!
funny post!
I don't know what to make of all that, but I'm just glad to be a Republican. Because we dont have anything like this...or the sex for kerry votergasm.org or whatever it is. The dims can keep all the trash.
"It's not new that active feminists tend to be ultraleft politically. From their perspective, you are not a friend of American women unless you support abortion rights, socialized health care and more social-welfare programs. Ronald Reagan's appointment of Sandra Day O'Connor to be the first woman on the U.S. Supreme Court never counted. Just as Condoleezza Rice, Gale Norton, Elaine Chao and other female Bush appointees don't count. They are not the right kind of women."
Sounds like racist activists claiming that Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes, Clarence Thomas, etc. aren't "black" enough.
Hey, I posted this a couple of days ago and it got PULLED!
Vaginas at the polls?
Bwah ha ha! Lord almighty, do they even realize how STUPID that sounds?!
My penis thinks the vaginas are onto or into, something.
Thank goodness our "private parts" are finally
getting a voice! Its about time too.
Now that I think about it, it's odd that the left would support this campaign. If vaginas actually did vote, wouldn't they be naturally inclined to vote for Bush?
"I am BushMeister's penis, and I approved this message."
How on earth can we get young male college students to take the issue of date rape seriously when their female classmates are wearing T-shirts that read, "I love my vagina?"
