Karpinski was definitely a poor officer. She seems to have been the incompetent commander who let things get out of hand at Abu Ghraib. I don't know anything about Fast. But regretably any female general officer suffers from the suspicion that she may have been given rapid promotion by the clintonoids purely for affirmative action purposes.

To true! This is the problem with affirmative action.

I'm acquainted with Barb Fast. I've worked for her as a soldier and as a contractor. She was not promoted out of political considerations. She is one of the few senior MI officers I've dealt with that is competent with details, decisive and not a micromanager. Nobody's perfect but you won't do much better than Barb Fast.

She was promoted by the Bush administration. What does that say about them?
