[history]
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Barack Obama, a little-known state senator from Chicago's South Side, shot to public notice this summer when he keynoted the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
Now Obama stands on the edge of election by a landslide to the U.S. Senate. He would become the first black male Democrat elected to the Senate, and overnight he could become a party heavyweight.

Hey, when Keyes started talking about reparations for the families of former slaves..i wrote him off.

I agree. The Illinois GOP made a huge mistake and may have just turned Illinois into another California or New York. It was already on the way, but the Illinois GOP just gave it away.

corruption charges against a former Republican governor who faces a trial next year. At least there is some good news coming out of Illinois - Ryan may just go to jail.
For the Keyes selection has emerged as a triumph of the conservative wing of the Republican Party in Illinois, a branch long angered by Republican moderates, as led for more than a decade by former Gov. James Thompson.
Republican moderates??? Thompson was a RINO, just like Ryan. I've long thought that the only reason he left office after three terms was to avoid being tried for corruption.

I suggest you defer to what the conservatives in Illinois see for ourselves.

Money quote: "Keyes will lose in a landslide, but his candidacy will make over the Republican Party in Illinois," Thomas Roeser, a GOP analyst, said in an interview. "Keyes is serving as a purgative, driving the moderates out of the party and catching Republicans in Illinois up to the conservative revolution started by Ronald Reagan that passed over Illinois." Well pointed out. Reagan came at the heals of Goldwater. We are taking the high ground here in Illinois and we are Reagan.
Pardon my bad German: Ich bein ien Reaganer!
Only thing, we don't really know that Keyes will lose in a landslide --or even that he will lose, for that matter. "That's why they play the game."

Obama is pro-life. That means he may have already triggered an ideological quake in Illinois RATS - eh?

Keyes explained, "What finally caught my eye, however, what finally arrested my attention and forced me to consider whether I not only have the opportunity to oppose [Obama], but the obligation, was when I learned that he had actually, in April 2002, apparently cast a vote that would continue to allow live birth abortions in the State of Illinois."
Obama is pro-infanticide.

Wake Up, Illinois!
Barack Obama IS the most liberal member of the Illinois Legislature.
If elected, Barack Obama WOULD BE the most liberal member of the United States Senate; to the Left of Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry.
But you have a great alternative. Ambassador Alan Keyes is a seasoned statesman. He is highly respected on Capitol Hill. When he speaks, Senators and Congressmen listen.
Alan Keyes has worked for years to build a national constituency of conscience which will help make him a highly effective advocate for the State and the people of Illinois in the Senate.
Alan Keyes will be a force to be reckoned with in the areas of fundamental tax reform, the elimination of government waste, and in promoting economic prosperity and job growth.
Alan Keyes is a highly regarded expert on foreign policy, defense, security and intelligence matters. He is known and respected by world leaders. What could be more important in this time when we must fight the worldwide War on Terror?
And finally, Alan Keyes is fully committed to the long-term project of reforming politics and government in Illinois.
Ignore the polls
Ignore the pundits
Vote for the best man
Not a single ballot has yet been cast.
We are still registering Bush/Keyes voters.
With your help,
Alan Keyes can win!

PS...I don't care where you live in the country. If you want to help change Illinois and defeat the socialist Obama, I have something for you to do. EV

"We usually have a big turnout in presidential years, but a lot of Republicans will stay home this year because Bush isn't making an effort here and many suburban Republicans don't want to vote for Keyes," said Pete Couvall, vice chairman of the Lake County Democratic Party. Call me crazy, but I think a lot of people are going to vote for Keyes. I'm not ready to write him off.
I think people in this state are sick to death of liberalism, and a lot of them will vote "ABB - anybody but barak". Besides, his name is too close to osama. What a stark reminder of what happens when rats are allowed free rein!

In case you are unclear about what has happened here let me inform you that the party's destruction has been entirely at the hands of the moderates whose corruption is rarely exceeded by the RATS themselves.

So you slept through the Reign of George the Corrupt? He completed the destruction of the present party. If that is "moderation" I have no use for it.

Obama is pro-life. Unfortunately, Obama is pro-death On three occasions he has failed to vote for restrictions on even "live birth" abortions. He's never met a fetus he wouldn't kill.

This registered Illinois republican will vote for Bush and keyes in November.
I think Keyes has a chance with Bush and RNC support.
He needs lots of publicity and needs to highlight Obama's amazingly liberal record. Keyes will do the second part. We have to pay for the first part.
I'm hoping for a Bush landslide that will depress the Illinois Democrat turnout and lift the Republican turn out.
I'd like a 10 pt poll lead or more on election day.
I'll keep praying.
