Just felt a quake here in the Fresno area...
Sure did. Rocked us pretty good down here in Tulare.
Hi! We felt NOTHING in Orange!!!
And that's how it's going to stay, OK?? :)
There all mad cause brutal, big mama winter is fast approaching.
The only ice I like is in my Margarita, while barbecuing in December. Hehe
"As long as you keep your car from freezing solid, I think you will find it "bracing".
"
Yeah, right. Bracing. I'm bracing for it all right. Really, I don't mind. I'm a long-time skier, so I've been around winter weather for a long time. Besides, my house has a heated garage, so the heck with winter.
Truly, I just signed up for a snow removal service for the winter. It costs just about as much as buying a decent snow blower and the guy is about two blocks from me. He says my place will be second on his list, after his own house. Then he ranges out from there.
I priced snow blowers this weekend. $100 a month will go a long way, I think.
I'm an old man (59). I ain't shoveling snow! [grin]
lol!
Well I've been here all my life, except a five year stint in Texas as a little girl. And I have never seen a tornado. But I have been through a few very nasty blizzards, and one really bad flood in 1987. I'd still take this over a quake any day. Why? Because you pretty much know when a flood, blizzard, or tornado is coming your way.
We had a similar experience about a month ago in NOCAL. It was the oddest earthquake event we've been through. It was localized and intense.
I was driving when the Loma Prieta hit, a car appeared to be coming at us - thought it was a drunk driver - then realized there was no driver, it was a parked car the quake shifted into the street.
Are you talking about Kerry's face or the quake?
Kerry? Whozdat? Sounds familiar...isn't that some weird loser?
My favorite earthquake experiences are OUT of doors! The trees resemble pompoms bouncing around.
HOWEVER, I remember the whole big, in the 60s, CA was going to fall into the ocean hysteria. I was a girl. I cleaned my room. I lay in bed with arms across my chest like Cleopatra, figuring an Atlantis discovery, one day. lol...
What scares you? Is it the -30, or the six feet of snow? :)
Anything up your way?
It's global warming.
I thought I felt it in New York, but then I remembered that Hillary! is probably in a close proximity......
Well, this seems to be tapering off to the usual little aftershocks. Nothing over 2.0 for quite a while.
Officer MineralMan says:
The show's over here folks. Nothing more to see. Return to your homes.
P.S. Enjoy your first winter! I'm enjoying my new-to-me hurricanes and tornados!
Yikes!
Actually, as I understand it, the largest earthquakes on record in the lower 48 states happened in 1811 and 1812, with back to back (month or so apart) 8+ quakes on the New Madrid fault, around the Missouri bootheel. And living here in Memphis I know that they don't have a clue about earthquake prep in the building codes!
I've figured out what all of the activity is leading up to. The New Madrid is going to let go again and Arkansas and Louisana are going to sink and the Memphis bluffs will be new beachfront property.
And I thought I was the only one without jammies. LOL
"I was a girl."
Are you not still a girl? Inquiring minds want to know. [evil grin]
