And after Kerry's rant about those in Hurricane Areas shouldn't be getting "help"... perhaps an even lighter hue of blue will be in the makes?

you have 100 frauds, kooks, nuts, and psychics making quake predictions every month,

Right. No reason to trust psychics unless they have a 100% correct record, which none of them has. When I first moved to CA in the late '60s, the kooks and nuts were predicting that CA was about to fall into the ocean, and some even moved away, thank goodness.

Keerect! But what's a little accurate information? Heck, we can scare everyone on the West Coast if we want to. Feh! I grow weary of people who know absolutely nothing about geology or earthquakes who come on these threads and say exceedingly stupid things.

Sort of sad an idiotic, worthless overnight radio show seems to be the primary source of scientific "education" in the country.

Last time I saw her regularly (Northridge, I suppose - when we lived in Newhall) she had that baby in her arms at any hour of the day or night.

I gotta assume she wasn't nursing, but I'm no physiologist...

How people live out there just amazes me. And that's just because of the illegals! ;)

I'm hoping they go back to where they came from after the Big One.

Here's part of the seismograph record from the machine closest to this swarm:

I've been to Parkfield. There's really nothing there TO damage. The eq study guys down there are probably thrilled with the data they're getting from this. They've been waiting for it.

It's eerie there, btw. Odd sensations there.

Wasn't this the earthquake they were predicting to happen this year in September or October? If I recall they are starting to predict these and have been getting better at it.

Well I can be positive! I live in Michigan. ;) I remember the quake from 1989, just watching it on tv. That one was bad enough. The Big One... yikes. OTOH, I've heard that a major quake from the New Madrid fault will top anything that happens on the west coast. Now THAT is one that I'd be interested in.

Sorry, I grow weary of the "we hope Cali falls off into the ocean" crowd on FR.

You know, nobody here knew the Whittier Narrows or Newport-Inglewood faults existed until there were earthquakes on them. I'm sure hope there's a fault somewhere under Texas or Nebraska or Ohio just waiting to engulf these "CA needs to fall into the ocean" crowds.

Well, unfortunately I didn't feel it in Pasadena. Damn! (Born and raised here, so I expect them at anytime LOL)

Well, my mother working in Northridge didn't feel it, and my father at home in Sherman Oaks didn't feel it either! But I assure you that *everyone* in my office felt it! I felt like I was sitting on a waterbed - just swaying all over the place.

I've already filled out the "Did you feel it" survey at the USGS website - I do that with every earthquake I feel. Every little bit helps, and all that.

Hope everyone up north is okay.

It scares me... and I live in Michigan! I swear I thought the big one would hit last year when I was in SF. How people live out there just amazes me

How people live in Michigan is truly amazing. I was there once in February. Our car froze the ground, the wind was blowing 65 miles per hours and it was like 300 degrees below zero.

We flew home to California that day, and put on our shorts, trimmed our roses, and barbecued. Hehehe.

Try Florida, you'll love it.

No evacuation going on here. Things are fairly calm in downtown SLO. No damage...

Our distance from the fault lines protects us from all but the most major quakes, but when the big one hits, we're screwed!

Yes, our buildings are not built to the higher quake requirements of southern and northern CA.
