More evidence the Democrats are planning an Election Day surprise for George Bush.
NewsMax's recent "Insider Report" revealed that the Democrats and their 527 groups,
as well as the major unions, were launching an unprecedented $300 million "get out the vote"
effort to defeat President Bush.
Republican strategists have warned the Democratic efforts may be laying the groundwork for massive vote fraud on Election Day.
Insider Report also detailed that Democrats have been outregistering Republican voters by a factor of 5 to 1 in Ohio and Florida.
But now there is word from Iowa that the Democrats are preparing to snag that state through "voter efforts."
The Des Moines Register details that as of last week 199,592 absentee ballots have been requested -- with most of these coming from Iowa's 20 largest counties.
As the New York Times put it, "Under Iowa law, anyone can request an absentee ballot, no questions asked . . . "
And who is asking for these ballots?
The paper said that a study of the state's 20 largest counties found that "roughly three times as many Democrats as Republicans" have requested ballots.
The Democratic operation in the state has not gone unnoticed by Republicans.
Republican Congressman Jim Leach told the Times the Iowa Democratic Party "has now become the single best organized political party in the entire country."
Back in 2000 Gore lost Iowa at the polls, but still eked out a 4,144 victory after absentee ballots were counted.
With every vote crucial in this contest, Democrats are clearly leaving nothing to chance

How the hell do we counter this blatant attempt to steal the election?
I don't know but Rove said they had something to counter this that could not reveal. Hopefully the GOP does have a plan.
The new media is our only hope against these monsters. They must have done this so many times in the past that they think they can get away with it.
We must have nationwide picture ID to vote.
Link?
I got a phone call from the Iowa GOP stating that MoveOn and ACT (and other shadowy groups, they called them) were going to pose as poll officials to collect absentee ballots.
Including registering dead voters. PATHETIC!!
Absentee ballots should only be available to people in the military and their family members. For anyone else, if you can't make it to your polling place on election day then you don't get to vote. Absentee ballots are a presciption for fraud.
AmishDude: What do we do now. I'm not surprised by any of this. I just don't know what we specifically need to do.
Not only are they laying the ground work for massive vote fraud, but they are going to contest every state they loose in court.
Thanks!

That's ridiculous. What about handicapped folks? What about people who are travelling on business or for other reasons? What about all the Freepers who always vote absentee?
Absentee voting has a potential for fraud, but then so does voting at the polls. It is essential, however, for those who, for one reason or another, cannot go to the polls.
Do, please, think before you write.
This sounds more like a conventional "absentee chase". Once you get your voters to apply for an absentee, you can then "chase" the ballot. (The good guys do this too, when we're sufficiently organized). The county will give you a list of those people who have received, but not returned their absentee ballots. You can then go knock on the doors of those folks and gently remind them to fill out the ballot. You can't take the ballot and mail it for them, at least in California.
He needs to keep it quiet.
I *LOVE* surprises. :)
This year the dems have been more blatant, asking for absentee ballots for everyone, but what needs to be done can't be done this year. There was a time when other, responsible Democratic elected officials would decry this sort of nonsense, even done on their own behalf.
There are precious few animals of that species anymore and with the "faithful" hearing about how the 2000 election was stolen and votes were denied, they feel justified in doing anything.
We need to get a clamp on absentee ballotting and have huge penalties for voter fraud.
It will be hard to top Chicago's 2000 voter turnout of 103%. Republicans are too chicken to confront such Dem fraud, and this may cost them the election.
And I'd feel much better if the parties did this sort of thing. They have some institutional responsibility.
