Bush: Militarizing Border Won't Stop Illegal Deluge
Newsmax.com ^ | Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 11:07 p.m. EDT

The U.S. has no plans to deploy troops along the Mexican border to stanch the deluge of illegal aliens currently pouring into the country at the rate of 3 million per year, President Bush said in an interview broadcast on Monday.

"As the governor of Texas, I was very aware of this issue," Bush told Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly.

Story Continues Below

"There is a long border, that makes it hard to control. We have beefed up places along the border to try to stop" the flow, he said. When told that his policy didn't seem to be working, Bush insisted, "It’s working a little better.

"They're doing a pretty good job down in Arizona, which is the main border crossing. ... I think there's a thousand more border patrol agents along the border. We’re modernizing border techniques, we’re using better surveillance methods to stop this crossing at the border."

The president contended, however, that illegal immigration was driven primarily by the economic realities of the region.

"If you can make 50 cents in the interior of Mexico and five bucks in the interior of the United States, you're coming for the five bucks," he explained.

"I happen to believe the best way to enhance the border is to have temporary-worker cards available for people," he said. "I think the long-term solution for this issue on our border is for Mexico to grow a middle class. That's why I believe in NAFTA."

When warned that "a lot of people are not going to like that answer," Bush told O'Reilly, "Well it’s a, a truthful answer."

No way can Canadians compete with that.

Yes, they can: they subsidize the terrorists, grant them Canadian citizenship, and then the terrorist can get into the US without needing to cross illegally...and A-Q doesn't have to pay the cartels one thin dime to get all this.

I think it's the other way around......they've annexed us. How else can anyone explain billions in benefits, Mexico dictating how we'll have to accept the matricula cards despite protests from our intelligence community, Mexican consulates opening up all over the country, Fox treating GWB like a red-headed step child, etc.

>You can bet I will vote third party next time.

Me too. This election is the last election in which I plan on voting for the Republican party unless two things happen in the next four years.

(1) Significant progress is made towards an amendment banning gay marriage.

(2) Significant progress is made towards stopping illegal immigration either by militarzing the border or by serious fines on schools, hospitals, employers, and landlords within the US who transact with illegals.

(An aside: what makes me a little nervous about militarizing the border is this...if things keep going they way they are going in America, our children's children may find themselves wanting to sneak *out*.)

If we're going down the toilet anyway, it might as well be under the direction of President Hillary vs. a RINO whose flawed policies get blamed on conservatives.

(Yeah, taxes and spending are important to me, but Bush - with his token 3% tax cut and record deficit spending - has proven to be no better than a libdem on those issues.)

It really is that simple. Do the same thing with welfare and SS and they will HAVE to go back. But Washington will never do that. It would screw up Mexico big time. All the talk of we cant build a wall or put the army on the border will help but what you suggest is the KISS answer. Keep it simple, stupid.

I think we will soon see amnesty for those here already and a national ID card for all of us. The marxist socialists who have taken over DC get rid of the 4th by creating a problem then offering the solution. We will soon see muslims doing what they do to Israel. Then the P&P's (predators and parasites this includes politicians, bankers and corps) in the swamp will have created the problem and the solution will be taking away the second. We have already seen the steady erosion of the constitution.

I believe the P&P's are setting us up for facism. The train to hell is increasing speed and the terror attacks that are bound to happen sooner or later will give them the excuse needed to make themselves more powerful. Its about money and power. Good against evil.

O’REILLY: OK. Ya’ know, a lot of people are not gonna like that answer. You know that?

BUSH (shrugging it off): What’s it to - truthful answer.

I think he was going to say "What's it to them? They don't matter."

Most interesting.

On Immigration
http://constitution-party.org/

We affirm the integrity of the international borders of the United States and the Constitutional authority and duty of the federal government to guard and to protect those borders, including the regulation of the numbers and of the qualifications of immigrants into the country.

Each year approximately one million legal immigrants and almost as many illegal aliens enter the United States. These immigrants - including illegal aliens - have been made eligible for various kinds of public assistance, including housing, education, Social Security, and legal services. This unconstitutional drain on the federal Treasury is having a severe and adverse impact on our economy, increasing the cost of government at federal, state, and local levels, adding to the tax burden, and stressing the fabric of society. The mass importation of people with low standards of living threatens the wage structure of the American worker and the labor balance in our country.

We oppose the abuse of the H-1B and L-1 visa provisions of the immigration act which are displacing American workers with foreign.

We favor a moratorium on immigration to the United States, except in extreme hardship cases or in other individual special circumstances, until the availability of all federal subsidies and assistance be discontinued, and proper security procedures have been instituted to protect against terrorist infiltration.

We also insist that every individual group and/or private agency which requests the admission of an immigrant to the U.S., on whatever basis, be required to commit legally to provide housing and sustenance for such immigrants, bear full responsibility for the economic independence of the immigrants, and post appropriate bonds to seal such covenants.

The Constitution Party demands that the federal government restore immigration policies based on the practice that potential immigrants will be disqualified from admission to the U.S. if, on the grounds of health, criminality, morals, or financial dependence, they would impose an improper burden on the United States, any state, or any citizen of the United States.

We oppose the provision of welfare subsidies and other taxpayer-supported benefits to illegal aliens, and reject the practice of bestowing U.S. citizenship on children born to illegal alien parents while in this country.

We oppose any extension of amnesty to illegal aliens. We call for the use of U.S. troops to protect the states against invasion.

We oppose bilingual ballots. We insist that those who wish to take part in the electoral process and governance of this nation be required to read and comprehend basic English as a precondition of citizenship. We support English as the official language for all governmental business by the United States.

The Constitution Partyis 100% in line with conservative ideals, and much more so than the GOP. That being the case, how come we conservatives don't have the courage of our convictions and vote for them? Fear?

Things are going to have to change. We accuse inner city blacks of having been held captive by a Democratic party that is oblivious to their long term interests, but are we any less captive to a Republican party that is oblivious to ours?

The bottom line is that on this and many other issues, our views *are* the mainstream view. Don't let leftists or franchise owners who employ illegals and think they are the arm of Adam Smith's invisible hand because they saved enough quarters for a franchise fee make you doubt that.

Vote for Bush this time if you want. I probably will just because it is so late in the campaign. After November, though, understand that the 2008 campaign is just kicking off. Conservatives cannot afford to demobilize after November and instead have to be on a full-on election year footing to ensure that whoever meets Hillary in 2008 isn't anything like Jeb Bush.

I wrote my Congressman re: the SSI Totalization with Mexico, expressing my disgust that Fox would announce to a group of illegals (some) that he would push for such a plan a week before American taxpayers were informed of same. I also expressed my dislike that the agreement's wording gives the appearance the US Congress is subservient to the Mexican parliment because it says the agreement must first be "approved" by the Mexican parliment then only "reviewed" by the US Congress. I have asked - with no reply - if the impression of weakliness is what they wish Americans to have of the US Congress.

"The U.S. has no plans to deploy troops along the Mexican border to stanch the deluge of illegal aliens .." Bush

and I have no plans to vote for you Bush. But that won't make any difference, an illegal will have cancelled/diluted my vote anyway.

Correct! And just how does an illegal, legally obtain a social security number?

Legally? They go through the proper channels to apply for citizenship (oh the horror to expect them to do so!).

Illegally, they all go down to MacArthur Park and score a DL and a number for about $100.

In Tx. we're seeing bilingual print in stores, restaurants, billboards, etc. which is nothing more than the banking & business community telling us they're going to stick this new American Union up our collective you know whats regardless of what we think and the whores in CON-gress are just being useful idiots for this whole process. if the FTAA goes through, we'll see an unprecedented attack against our Constitution and legal system that will be something to see. People better wake up and fast.

You know something is amiss when all the information a citizen of the United States of America is given to vote for the President and local elections is distributed in spanish on one side and english on the other. There is no attempt being made to assimilate. Its just the opposite. Everything possible is being done to roll out the red carpet including ignoring laws. One of the things that made America great is that we are a nation of law.

This is not something that is just happening on its own. I will be called a tin hat wearing fool but I sincerly believe this is all being done for a reason. This is being done to speed up the elimination of the US constitution. The dems are lieing hypocrites and they will benefit from this. As soon as we are attacked again they and their MSM will say its all the reps fault. They have control of the P, the senate and congress and have utterly failed on the WOT. They will claim to be the party of the people and they will bring back the jobs and do something about illegals. It will not matter that they will not do what they say. They will simply say it to gain power. It is not as simple as dems wanting votes and reps wanting slave labor.

You talk like a commie. You haven't a clue what I've done.

You just hogjaw your way in here. Your words come out like burps, involuntarily.

Listen bozo, I helped work on CA prop 187 for two years prior to the election. Did I tell you we won our free election here in Cal? Overwhelmingly, 3 to 1.

Then your friends the feds came along, working in concert with the local state career politicos parasites, they burned our ballots and declared our free election illegal.

Now folks from Atlanta to Alaska are seeing the results of the massive, big brother government.

If it looks like he's dancing you around you might want to send him another letter (preferably registered) and put him on notice that he's in direct violation of his oath of office and federal law by aiding and abetting these illegals with the commsion of a crime.

I can not disagree more strongly with the Democrats and also the Republicans on this issue. It is on issues like this I think that the only solution is to create a new political party more powerful than the Democrats and Republicans combined. As the two stale, internationalist parties fight for small demographic slivers, it is possible that a new, major party can take most of the vote and in essence replace the Dems and Repubs.

The border needs to be a live fire range for MOABs, MLRs, and all types of weapons systems.

That's just "for starters."

It is this issue that could give rise to a new, major political party that may have a chance at completely knocking out the other two. Third parties do not work. A new major, First party registered in all of the 50 states, with a First party series of candidates running candidates at every single level of elective office ((aiming at taking ALL of the Conservative, right wing, religious and moderate votes ))could potentially get rid of the Republican party and get us a new vehicle capable of solving this border issue once and for all.

On this one, the Republicans are sell outs and Benedict Arnolds. Republicans should start disassociating themselves from US citizens and seek candidates only from Mexico from now on.

I am voting for Bush again, but painfully so on this issue. I am a Republican but will jump at something with more Moxie should it come down the pike. The "catch all" Republican party needs to be discontinued and replaced by a new and powerful governing Citizen party that represents US Citizens and their interests to the exclusion of all others. Period..
