The U.S. has no plans to deploy troops along the Mexican border to stanch the deluge of illegal aliens currently pouring into the country at the rate of 3 million per year, President Bush said in an interview broadcast on Monday.
"As the governor of Texas, I was very aware of this issue," Bush told Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly.

"There is a long border, that makes it hard to control. We have beefed up places along the border to try to stop" the flow, he said. When told that his policy didn't seem to be working, Bush insisted, "Its working a little better.
"They're doing a pretty good job down in Arizona, which is the main border crossing. ... I think there's a thousand more border patrol agents along the border. Were modernizing border techniques, were using better surveillance methods to stop this crossing at the border."
The president contended, however, that illegal immigration was driven primarily by the economic realities of the region.
"If you can make 50 cents in the interior of Mexico and five bucks in the interior of the United States, you're coming for the five bucks," he explained.
"I happen to believe the best way to enhance the border is to have temporary-worker cards available for people," he said. "I think the long-term solution for this issue on our border is for Mexico to grow a middle class. That's why I believe in NAFTA."
When warned that "a lot of people are not going to like that answer," Bush told O'Reilly, "Well its a, a truthful answer."
How many sensors would that take? How many officers in the air would it take?
ok.. Add another fence to it taller than the other two (on our side of the border) that is not electrically charged (thatll keep the snakes, etc from coming into contact with either of the other two fences).
Protected habitat for people... Yours is also a good idea.
This invasion is a bit like the story of the Goths. First, the Romans just let them in since they figured that they were not a military threat.
Things went bad between the Romans and the Goths.
Rome was looted.
End of story.
Not sure I agree. They are well armed and well organized here in LA. And they not afraid to use them.
And I think breaking a countries Federal Immigration Laws, Driving Illegally, Driving Uninsured, Working Illegally, et al ... is something that requires a fairly strong reaction.
If they don't want a military response, they don't have to come. It's 100% their decision.
I'm not talking about invading Mexico, i'm talking about protecting our national borders. "Please don't break our state and federal laws" hasn't seemed to be an overwhelming success.
Oh, and 600 gang murders last year in the city limits of LA alone. Who knows what it is nationwide.
I'm not 100% sure on how you define "military invasion". But I would be willing to be that the yearly illegal Mexican violent crime victim totals make 9/11's numbers look underwhelming.
Not as dramatic, but no less destructive.

Excellent post.
HAHAHA!!
I have two siblings who live in the Los Angeles area.
They are far more afraid of a NUTJOB like you than any Mexican scourge.

Okay, you speak for two of the 10 million people in Los Angeles county.
To say that is statistically insignificant is an understatement.
Oh, and I bet your "sibling" live as far away from Central Los Angeles as possible. "I live in the Los Angeles Area" is a euphemism for "I love illegals, I just don't want to live near those people".
Face it, your siblings are afraid of the Mexican "scourge" (note, your word, not mine .... telling).
Move from your oppressive condition and STFU.
Oh, and ad-homnems are usually against FR policy, but I won't tell if you don't.
Request Denied.
This is the one sore spot I have with GWB. Seems to me that all borders to the U.S. should have been under military protection since 9/11 and declared so to all border countries for just that reason. If Mexico can't deal with that then too bad.
You love playing the victim.
That's DemocRAT area.
Is there a cliche' or ad-hominem you haven't used yet?
We'll enjoy your whining.
