Mexico's newest border czar wants to begin building additional travel lanes at ports of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border and to increase the number of border crossings into the United States the first steps, he hopes, toward an open border with no checkpoints. Arturo Gonzalez Cruz, a Tijuana businessman named in April by President Vicente Fox as the Mexican Foreign Ministry's institutional liaison for northern border affairs, said access changes along the 1,940-mile U.S.-Mexico border were "necessary" to facilitate increased travel and trade between his country and the United States.

I'd type LOL -- except the accurate point you're making is as sad, and infuriating, as it is funny.

Oh that's a great idea. Let's allow every terrorist an easy way into the United States. We are looking for more security in this country not less.

This would be a good move. It's amazing how long it takes to cross that border. I'd like to see some sort of mass transit - either buses or even a shuttle like they have at many airports.

I'm all in favor of it.
When Mexico eliminates all restrictions on travel, investment, property ownership, etc. in Mexico by US citizens, we'll eliminate all restrictions on Mexican travel, investment, property ownership, etc.

What Mexico's not saying is that this is just another step to their desired return of the "glorious Aztlan" wherein everyone who is not part of "la Raza" will be subject to the Latino racism & bigotry of MEChA.
And the Liberals just can't wait to help make it happen.

If he wants open borders, let him open the border with Guatemala.

Annex Mexico, its a smaller border to patrol. Of course no perks for them though.

the long-term Mexican plan of reclaiming the southwest and

I have no words for this insanity. But I like your "duck on a taco"....brings quite an image to mind!

Hmm why does this not suprise me much.
We are already the 2nd leading contributor to the GDP of Mexico. Why not just open our borders and allow America to inherit another welfare state! /sarcasm off
This is ridiculous Mexico is already trying to be subsidized by America via illegitimate means (illegal immigration.) and now Mexico wants to make it easier for people to cross into this country.
Maybe we should also invite the Canadians in too and let them decide to institute shia law here also. Legal Immigration is good, people need to come to this country for the freedom and to achieve the American dream, but those that come here illegally come in tax our social welfare system, put added strain on our health care industry and tie up law enforcement having to deal not only with the criminal aspect of the crimes they commit, but also having to try to find out who the person is, because it is not likely an illegal immigrant is going to use correct information. This happens on a daily basis here in Arizona. this needs to stop, and Mexico is obviously unwilling to assist. I say close the borders now!

I would love if they let us americans buy waterfront mexican property. I've had my eye on this spread in Merida for the past three years we've visited. It will make someone a fine second or retirement home.

Mr. Bush's guest-worker proposal, offered as a set of principles and not as specific legislation, would allow illegal aliens in the United States to remain if they have jobs and to apply as guest workers.Yet, no mention in the article about Bush's Totalization Agreement with Mexico that would give millions of these same Mexican illegal aliens billions of US Social Security benefits?
Seems to me like this agreement is being hidden from view.
I wonder how the American voters would react if they found out that Bush has signed an agreement to give their tax dollars to illegal aliens from Mexico?
I'll bet they'd throw him out of office.

access changes along the 1,940-mile U.S.-Mexico border were "necessary" to facilitate increased travel and trade between his country and the United States. Well, I guess we all know where he's coming from, eh?
Now, if he had said, "...between the United States and his country..."
This is 100% BS. He should climb in bed with Asa. Or maybe he already has?
Hey Arturo, take all your damned Criminal Aliens and get the Hell out and stay the Hell outta MY country.
