The groundbreaking celebration for the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center for Community Building on St. Paul's West Side on Sunday would have been one of those events that reminded the late senator why he went into politics in the first place, his son told a crowd of supporters.
Longtime Wellstone supporters, young parents toting strollers, children on bikes and neighborhood politicians all milled about to toast the new $25 million Neighborhood House facility that, when complete, will help the group continue to serve the growing number of immigrants relocating to St. Paul. The 93,000-square-foot building is being named in the Wellstones' honor.

Hmmm. I've heard of St. Paul for quite a while - I never knew it was named for Wellstone.
Did they ever check out the mechanics who worked on that plane?
They've got people sleeping on park benches, and in their cars, in the Twin Cities that could use decent housing, and these liberals are spending $25 million on immigrants.
Kind of shows you the agenda driven liberal mind-set doesn't it?
The strange "memorial service" of Paul Wellstone
Paul Wellstone was a socialist. He never met a government program he didn't like or a tax increase he didn't support. He felt that government should run every facet of a citizen's life and was unashamed to say so (unlike most democrats). For this he gets credit as an "honest" politician.
He voted against the Gulf War and any armed solution to the current Iraqi problem but supported Clinton in every military adventure. He saw nothing wrong with Clinton's obstruction of justice and lying to a grand jury. For this he gets credit as a "man of principle."
He promised to only served two terms. He was killed campaigning for his third term. For this he gets credit as "a man of the people."
His memorial service was a strange event. It was not even a service. It was a political rally. Issues and campaign speeches were made. People were yelling, chanting, smiling and laughing. Party leaders tried to out do themselves in how loud they could get the audience to applaud. The evil people (Republican Trent Lott and Independent Jesse Ventura) were booed and scorned for merely attending. There was excitement in the air.
Paul Wellstone's sons energized the crowd. They had just lost their mother, father and sister but they were leading the crowd, with fists in the air, with chants of "We will win!"
Democrats, at taxpayer expense, flew in from all over the country. All the major news outlets had continuing coverage and analysis of the speeches.
Nearly forgotten were the broken bodies of Paul, Sheila and Marsha Wellstone. They had become campaign props. Hardly any prayers were said. God was not mentioned. None said "may he rest in peace."
Paul, Sheila and Marsha are now before their God. May they rest in peace.
Our nation is succumbing to the wave of illegal invades and these fools are putting out a welcome mat for them.
Do they really think that the illegals view them as anything other than colossal suckers?
Well, they will find out what the illegals are really like . . . of course by then it will be too late.
yep. some revistionist history teachers once told me it
was named by a Catholic missionary who thought Pig's Eye
was a bad name for a capitol city. But know we know the
real truth-It was named after Saint Wellstone.
Did that rally not cost Mondale a Senate seat???
I don't think they really care about that. These are agenda driven liberals who live by an ideology where the downside is never mentioned.
As long as they're seen to be "doing good works" for the masses, and it makes them feel good about themselves, the unforseen consequences don't matter to them.
Maybe they can have a re run of the left wing orgy of hate at his funeral a year ago.
Oops! I saw the word toast and I thoat this was about Kerry.
I thoat this was about Kerry. ---- "thought" --- WOW! That wasn't even close.

Check out any state-owned building in St. Paul...
Col. Rove did it in the Conservatory with the candlestick. I have the memo that proves everything.
I believe that "memorial service" did in Mondullll.
What I have never understood was the BOOING the
Ventura's recieved - Jesse's wife was sobbing- and they
(The DemonraTS) were booing and laughing at her!!!
Jesse was a Democrat at heart- cared only about himself.
Wanted gay unions
Refused to have a prayer day
did not go to church
bashed Christians
got a license to carry a gun- did not want the
citizens to have that right
Jesse not only beat Norm Coleman (now our Senator)
He defeated the infamous "skip" Humprey- (he came in a very distant third)- the Demonrats have always held a payback
attitude towards him.
Wellstone
wanted gay unions
refused to go to synagogue
bashed Christians
did not want citizens to own guns
The real reason for this memorial??? (community center)
It will be staffed by more AFSME union workers-
the "management" will be paid Demonrat volunteers.
the money spent will not be audited- except by the
Demonrat party.
