East Cleveland Mayor Acknowledges She Killed a Man 22 Years Ago, Says She Acted in Self-Defense
Associated Press
Sept. 25, 2004
EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) - The mayor of East Cleveland acknowledged that she killed a man 22 years ago and was convicted but said she acted in self-defense, according to a published report Saturday. Mayor Saratha Goggins told The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer that she was defending herself when she fatally stabbed O'Neal Price, 48, in 1982.
"It was an unfortunate incident that occurred in a time of my life. There is nothing I can do to change it. I have moved on. I am going to survive it," said Goggins, who became mayor this month after Mayor Emmanuel Onunwor was convicted of corruption charges.
The disclosure came after The Plain Dealer obtained a copy of a coroner's report that said Goggins admitted stabbing Price during a fight in his home on Sept. 30, 1982. The report said Goggins identified Price, a divorced father of three, as her boyfriend.
Goggins was married at the time and not involved in politics. She told the newspaper that she recalled being convicted but said she could not remember the charge. She declined to say whether she was jailed. She said she petitioned a judge to seal the records in September 1991.
A message left by The Associated Press at a number under Goggins' name was not immediately returned.
...and she belongs to which political party?
More than can be said about her boyfriend.
Curious how AP leaves out what party this psycho killer belongs to.
"Curious how AP leaves out what party this psycho killer belongs to."
And I bet that's our answer, right there.
Thanks for electing me.....oh, by the way.......
The old, "I don't recall". She makes a perfect politician.
>>Goggins was married at the time and not involved in politics. She told the newspaper that she recalled being convicted but said she could not remember the charge<<
the last time I murdered someone I couldnt remember what the charge was too HAHAHAHHAHAH good grief...little thing like that I guess could slip your mind most any day!
Yea, but George W. Bush missed a National Guard physical 30 years ago.
Hmm. Stabbing is usually a crime of passion and really deep anger, not of self defense. I'd like to know more.
More then Fat Teddy ever did.
Any pic of Saratha????? Is she Chinese, French, Swedish, Irish? Or perhaps Inuit??? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
LoL.
Slipped her mind.......
From the Cleveland Plain Dealer, this is the dem she replaced.
would I be profiling if I said I worked out her Party and Race from information omitted from the article?
The party which will not be named unless it trashes pubbies.
If she were a Republican, the writer would make a point of noting it. Hence, she is a Democrat.
"Goggins identified Price, a divorced father of three, as her boyfriend.and ...Goggins was married at the time"
"She told the newspaper that she recalled being convicted but said she could not remember the charge."Uh,... I think the charges might of been related to that whole killing a man while cheating on your husband bit.
PING! This one is too target rich to miss.
When I was a Fed (1988 - 1993), East Cleveland was part of my turf. There are a lot of some serious bad a***es in that "hood"!
What else has the press hidden from us? Clinton's alleged cocaine overdose in 1982? Where's the demand for the medical records of Bubba (of which he struggled mightly to conceal).
Did the press fail to pursue the rumor that Teddy Kennedy had gotten Mary Jo Kopechne pregnant before she died? Why not a demand for Kopechne's autopsy report? Where's the gung-ho pursuit of Liberal pecadillos from the Watergate-inspired press? Selective immorality I think.
Bottom Line: The press protects neo-communists from exposure, yet pursues false stories about Bush. Go figure.
